OT: Searching for the Name/Author of an Old Beginning Electronics Book

Hi All. I am in a quest to find an Old Beginning Electronics book that I used to read. I found said book at a wonderful LA County Library back in early/middle 80's (I checked that sucker out more than once).

As noted, the book was a beginning electronics book. It was published in the middle 1960's and had theory and practical projects you built. Started from the basics of electricity/electronics and went from there up to a simple transmitter project using transistors.

The one thing that made this book notable and identifiable in my brain was that the student made their own variable capacitor out of two 4" boards, aluminum foil, wax paper and some bolts. I constructed the crystal radio project in the book using this variable capacitor. I still have the variable cap and coil I wound using wire and a toilet paper roll. The variable capacitor picture is attached.

Would anyone out there remember this book/name/author?

I have a few methods for finding such things:

1) Ebay obviously, but check the box "completed auctions" on the left-hand side.? That way you will see older auctions as well.? There is also a check box for "worldwide".? You can also visit foreign Ebay sites, such as ebay.com.au (australia), ebay.com.it, ebay.com.de ....etc? Foreign ebay items will not appear on the US site unless they ship to the US.

2) Do a google search such as beginning electronics book images.? Or maybe throw in the word vintage also.? There will be pages and pages of images.? Sometimes you will see an image of the item you are looking for.? And hopefully you can see the author.? This has also worked for me when I was looking for schematics.

3) Different search engines give different results.? Try duckduckgo, yahoo, bing, hotbot, etc.
