?Yes, it's the T4XB that I need the switch for I'm not sure if the T4X is the same, also Steve mentioned that the T4XC is different and he is correct on this the T4XC switch will not work.
These switches are not assembled like most rotary switches using a rivet they seem to be pressed together with a pin like system.
If you or someone else has this switch and are willing to part with it all I need is the wafer not the whole switch. I would just snip the wiring going to the wafer then detach the wafer via the two nuts I'll clean up the switch prior to installation.

I'll identify the times that have the least competition (because many of us not only have Drakes, but Collins, Swan and Kenwood radios, amongst others).
After finding the times, will come the frequencies.
Those of you who ran the 20m nets in the past, what frequency(ies) was it on?

all have a different switch!? But, the last section looks (casual look) like it is the same, it just
moved towards the back,? the added section on the late one is the middle section.

IIRC, the last T-4X's have a switch layout that is identical to the T-4XB and they have the same number of wafers, whilst the earlier T-4X's had one less wafer.? I was going to try and update a T-4 to be able to operate in SSB/AM when a key is plugged in, because on the schematics, it appears (at first) that there were relatively minor changes that would allow that to happen.? Then I discovered the "extra" switch wafer!
I don't remember off the top of my head what the serial number is on my late T-4X but will retrieve it after lunch, when I go back down to the shack and resume rebuilding my desk layout.

Remind me again....is it a T-4X or T-4XB you need this for?? I can pull either one (or a T-4XC) to see it up close and personal, and then go looking for a suitable wafer.? It is unlikely that I have the exact switch, unless the one in the T-4XC is identical....which is a good possibility. I have a relatively?complete T-4XC parts rig on the shelf.

The config in my photos is stock. The bushing on the shaft is there to isolate the mode knob from the bandwidth selector. Yes, this rig had some corrosion from humid storage. But that's merely cosmetic on the outside. All switch movement works perfectly. I got the complete 2-C, 2-NT, and 2-CQ station for a very low price. They are very early production units with serial numbers in the 40's. The 2-C had a broken crystal switch on the side, otherwise they merely needed recapping. One rectifier was bad but was easy to diagnose due to the smoke (hi). Works like a charm! ? -- 73 de Steve K9NUD .. Nothing happens until someone calls CQ!

I'm not at home so cannot start digging into the details.I will be home in a few days though, and can check out what parts I have/don't have and even if the switch isn't correct, there may be a wafer?that would do the job, seeing as yours sounds like it's toast.? Changing a wafer is NOT a job I'd like to do every day, but I have done it successfully on a TR-6 many moons ago and the rig is still working fine.
Can you get a good pic of the damaged wafer?? That would?help both Gary and I find you something that would "drop in"....and I use that term loosely!

If you think the R-4B audio is good, you should listen to an R-4A(early).
Unless.. your R-4B has the Sherwood product detector mod.
Notice how your S-meter moves on SSB signals.? If it moves up and down with sylables,
you need the Sherwood mod.

Nice write-up. You found two of the most common TR7 failures, both on the PS board. C2108 us the only capacitor on my "must replace" list for the TR7. It is not a matter of if it fails, but rather when it fails. It lives a pretty hard life. More important than the voltage rating is to use a high quality 105C temperature rated part.
