Re: Need help with the planetary drive on T-4XC
How about some photos. The Drake drive is crimped together by the outside. Getting the crimp force right is the adjustment. 73, Gary WB6OGD

Need help with the planetary drive on T-4XC
I was trying to free up the RF Drive by cleaning out the old grease. Made the mistake of loosening the Allen screws. After getting the bearings back in their holes, the small center shaft spins freely

Re: What are the differances between the T4X and the T4XB
While not all inclusive to my experience, it was a noticeable difference from the TR44 which uses the T4X that the SSB use either had to have the key closed or the key jack empty. On the B and C line,

Definitely an worthwhile enhancement. The is in keeping with the comment Rob made about whether the engineers ever use the radios they design on the air. -- Richard Loken VE6BSV : "...underneath those

Re: What are the differances between the T4X and the T4XB
I assumed the PTO differences would be obvious. I have discovered a ¡°subgroup¡± of the T-4X, in the last production of them: a change in the CW key circuit that allows SSB operation without needing

Re: TR7 extenders
Jim, Correct. My TR-7 came with no noise blanker. The woodpecker forced me to buy one. The dummy board remains. Thanks for pointing out that the dummy board was not part of the extender board set. 73,

Re: What are the differances between the T4X and the T4XB
Garey K4OAH was the founder of this group. He probably forgot more about the 4-Line rigs that the rest of us will ever know. He was a true gentleman and is sorely missed. You can find his postings in

Re: What are the differances between the T4X and the T4XB
Not too many changes at all. The bit about the striped crystals is hard to get my head around but my R4 says it doesn't much matter. Those messages accidently explained why I see R4s and T4Xs with a

Re: What are the differances between the T4X and the T4XB
It is interesting that the plate current meter was recalibrated to be a 500mA meter, the final should pull about 300mA so you would think 400mA full scale would do. Maybe too many overachievers pegged

Re: TR7 extenders
The NB-7 dummy board, a.k.a. IF Switching Board, was not a part of the Drake extender kit. It was only used for TR7s that did not have the NB-7 option. 73 -Jim NU0C "Tom Evans" <Tom.AG9X@...>

Re: TR7 extenders
The one you really want is the "Jumper" board. It is by far the one I have used the most. It allows you to do tests on the radio without the DR7 installed. I rarely use any of the other extenders.

The PLATE meter also went from 400 to 500 mA full scale. Mic jack moved to the side. Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS
