Re: R-4C tuning problem
You may have a bushing issue. Easily fixed.

R-4C tuning problem
Hi:
I am new to this group. I acquired some Drake equipment from the estate of a sk. Starting with the receiver (R-4C) I noticed the two plastic discs with the freq markings don't move when you turn

Re: Soft Rubber Eqp't Feet
Glenn, thanks for the pointer. But that still leaves me in
my current conundrum. I can't tell if they will work just
by looking at a web page. I was hoping to hear from somebody
who had already

Re: Soft Rubber Eqp't Feet
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I've used a variety of styles for "rubber feet" and find that glueing a small piece of felt on the bottom of each foot gives cushioning and avoids scratching

Re: Soft Rubber Eqp't Feet
Hi Lyndon
Another solution is to use supermagnets.
Glue or?screw 4 supermagnet on the key plate - and 4 on the table - they and a magnetic material could all be glued or screwed into the key plate

Re: Soft Rubber Eqp't Feet
Hi Lyndon
Have a look her - there is material box e.g. "rubber, neoprene", "rubber, silicone", "silicone" - and there is a "mounting type" box e.g. "screw

Re: TR-3 No Transmit
I connected my D104 from my Collins KWM-2 and no modulation in either LSB or USB. That mic works on the Collins fine. I did notice .15ma when I key the mic compared to .1ma with X-CW but no

That would work great if these weren't Vibroplex keys, with all

Try some of the stuff you line tool boxes with to keep the tools from moving around.
and or the stuff cabinet makers use to hold wood on the worktable for sanding

Re: Soft Rubber Eqp't Feet
Vibroplex sells feet for their keys. There's no reason why they wouldn't work on other brands.
I replaced the feet on my Standard Iambic a few years ago and it has been fine. I've had that key

Re: TR-3 No Transmit
Any modulation in SSB, with switch in LSB and USB? I suspect one of the filters.

Re: TR-4C Can Capacitors
I also use a large ¡°cattle-prod¡± iron.
Clip the wires at the tabs. Don¡¯t bother trying to desolder the leads. If you can get the can so that it can have just one attachment, you can move it

They make them here:

Re: TR-4C Can Capacitors
It would be great to design a "daughter board" to fit the standard can cap
mounting layout and available lead lengths such that you can mount modern
size axials in an affordable fashion. I'm thinking

Can you measure that the contacts in the key jack used to close the key
contacts when a key is not present are actually making contact?
