Re: TR-4 - Change to PA Circuits
Hmmm. I¡¯m sure that these all interact. I wonder if that change was implemented when they went to Sylvania finals. Steve Wedge, W1ES Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

Re: TR-4 - Change to PA Circuits
The reason I ask is I'm still wondering why I had to go down to 6pF for C77 (the parallel capacitor across the variable neutralizing capacitor) in order to properly neutralize my rig. I thought

Re: TR-4 - Change to PA Circuits
No idea on that one. I do know that they made several changes around then, including changing the cathode resistors from 1/2 watt to 1 watt. That change tells me that the reason the cathode resistors

Re: Tr7 Refurb
Hi everyone. Thanks for all the help. I'm going to try and find a copy of the RV7 manual for the future. But I had an idea last night, delved into my spares cabinet where I had my spare PTO. although

Re: TR-4 : Constant tone with 100kHz Calibrator
Gary, Yes, I have several good scopes so I can take a look at those points. I'm curious, though, as to where there _should_ be much signal there and, if so, how much, if any, would be allowable. I've

TR-4 - Change to PA Circuits
In the early versions of the TR-4, for each of the PA tubes, both of the screen grid connections (pins 1 and 7) had a 470pF capacitor to GND. Starting at serial number 27500 (Version 5), Drake removed

Re: TR-4 : Constant tone with 100kHz Calibrator
Barry, Well, it must be picked up by the IF.? !00KHz harmonic is exactly 9.0MHz, BFO xtal is off from that by the amount you are hearing.. I bet. Do you have a scope? If so, scope the power supply

Re: TR-4 : Constant tone with 100kHz Calibrator
Gary, You bring up an interesting possibility and that is the wire from the plate of the oscillator tube is "near" T13, one of the initial IF transformers for receive. Perhaps something is bleeding

Gary, Actually, that wire is placed where I've seen most of them - hooked in a hole in one of the bandswitch wafers. Thanks! Barry - N4BUQ

Re: TR-4 : Constant tone with 100kHz Calibrator
Barry, Not normal. Drake coupled the calibrator signal into the RX Ant by way of an unconnected wire wrapped around the rx input. Probably someone moved it over closer to the IF. Find the wire and put

How many wires are going to the PTO? Mine has 4, like the RV7 VFO. Red, Black, Brown and Green. Brown is on the right side of the PTO looking at it from the front and all of the others go into the

TR-4 : Constant tone with 100kHz Calibrator
When I switch on the 100kHz calibrator in my TR-4, I get a constant tone regardless of the frequency of the PTO. It's rather high-pitched, perhaps 4 kHz or 5 kHz in frequency. If I recall correctly,

I don¡¯t know for sure but in the 4-Line, the wires are attached inside the PTO. Probably why you don¡¯t see anyplace that the wire used to attach. 73, Gary WB6OGD

I see it puts,PTO output into the Translator. Try as i do can't see where the output pin .is. there are two wires fixed from the main board to the pto, going to have to scope them and see which one
