Re: Mic for Drake TR7
*** Whups - that being said, I actually built a preamp into mine. No gain.
Just a JFET source follower. It presents the rochelle salts element with
an extremely high impedance. This helps low

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
*** Indeed. I don't understand why a D-104 would *need* a preamp.
Maybe if you needed a couple watts out of it to directly amplitude
modulate something?

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
The D-104 with the G stand was? made for? hams back in the 1930's . CB was about 20 yeas later, I am thinking 1958.? CB did not take off to the 1960's to become popular.? ?They produced the

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
When Astatic came out with the D-104s, they were made for the CB market. Back then most CBr¡¯s were on AM not SSB, so the mic works great on AM or FM,
Then Astatic came out with the 10d mic (bullet

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
Robert,
The amplified D-104 Final Edition works fine with the TR-7 by merely bypassing the audio amp. ?It is more of a collector's item in the display case.
Have a good week.

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
Hi Evan,
Don¡¯t worry about the photos, I since found out that¡¯s not the correct microphone I need, so I¡¯m no longer interested in it.
As far as the D-104 goes, they are amplified which will

Robert,
I also have a NIB, last production run of a D-104 that is an amplified version, in the display case. ?It is actually better than new if you'd ever want to know the story.

Re: TR-4 Resistance Chart
Can a 10 Meg input impedance HP DVM be used to measure these resistances?
That input impedance spec is the same as what I have seen listed for some
VTVMs but I have experienced a number of resistance

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
There is a CB style mic that Drake used with their 470 that has an excellent cartridge that sounds great on my TR-7A. ?I'll. dig up the model number if you like.

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
Robert I've used both on the TR-7 using mic pin 1 , the 404C has more "drive" than the 404B so it takes a lower mic gain setting. I believe the Drake 7077 mic was 750 Ohms imp'KE7KK

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
Thanks Bill, that helps a lot. I wasn't sure if it needed a high imp or a low imp? You say either works well with the TR7? Which imp were the original Drake mics? Thanks so much, Robert

Re: Mic for Drake TR7
The equivalent hand mic for the Shure 444 is the 404C (Hi imp) or the 404B (low imp) either works very well with the TR-7
