Re: Drake 2-C AVC Voltage Problem
Steve, I haven't worked or owned a 2-C in a long time but Drake was fond of very high impedance AGC circuits. Many, many issues with the AGC come down to one or more gassy tubes. The circuit is so

Re: Speech Processor?
I have used a SP75 for years with good reports. In the house I also have MFJ, Diawa, and a vintage Comdel, none of which I have tested (because SP75). Not impressed by the build of the MFJ but then I

Re: Speech Processor?
When I tested several speech processors some years ago the TenTec unit was the worst by far when it came to intermodulation distortion. I don't have any experience with the other two.

Speech Processor?
Greetings, I have been considering adding a speech processor to my shack. I was thinking it might give my TR5 a little help as they tend to be a little anemic, and maybe add a little to my B-line. I

Re: 2B added connectors, why?
The connector provides a 6.3v heater voltage, B+, ground, and a loop for the audio.? This was almost certainly a modification to accommodate some sort of external, tube-based device that did some

Re: Could be the end of my Tr7
Mike, I can feel your frustration from here. I experienced the same when trying to fix my TR4310 which had many, many wounds. There were several times it nearly bet me, but I beat it! The TR4310 and

Re: Not Drake: Replacing chassis mount caps
A viable option. The R390 restorers have been doing that for a long time. You will find a lot of discussion in the lists and forums. They even have their own name for the goo inside the cans.

Not Drake: Replacing chassis mount caps

Re: Could be the end of my Tr7
Don't even think about it until you have a completely working rig. In my experience the only caps that need to be replaced are C2108 on the PS board and (maybe) C9026 on the DR7 board. C2108 should be

Thank you everyone for your help. Tr7 has the BW switches out. Have ordered the transistors for the 10R 10T switch on the TX audio board. Just in case. I am going to change all the electrolytic caps
