6BN8/8BN8
OK question. Can a 6BN8 be used in a 2B in place of a 8BN8 and if so what if any differences will occur? Has anyone tried this? Thanks Tim WB8UHZ

Re: TR5 Help
Jim, the fact that the voltage on pin 4 does not change at all bothers me. There should be a volt or two swing with the pot. It makes me think its divider network is open somehow. Check the resistors

Re: Replacement Male connector for 2BQ?
I just replaced what looks to be the same connector on my R4C with a chassis mount DIN connector.? It fits in the same holes with no alternations necessary.? The mounting holes are slightly wider

Re: TR5 Help
Jim, is the voltage on pin 5 also 7.2V? At 7.21V output, the voltage on pin 10 should be around 5.05V and you have 5.3V. Is Q404 good? What is the voltage B-E on it? How about the voltage on its

Re: TR5 Help
Hi Dave. The voltage on pin 4 is 7.20 VDC and no it does not change turning the 10 volt adjust pot. Pins 11 and 12 both have 13.68 VDC and Pin 10 has 5.397. No transistors get warm or hot. Does that

Re: TR5 Help
Jim, what is the voltage on pin 4, and does it vary at all with the pot? What is the voltage on pins 10 and 11? Is the pass transistor getting warm at all? Dave

TR5 Help
I am waiting for a new BFO crystal for my TR7 so in the meantime I am working on my TR5. The 10 volt power supply failed when I turned it on a week or so ago. I have checked just about everything I

Re: TR-4C Problems with 28.0 and 28.5 bands
It¡¯s a possibility, so bear that in mind. If you¡¯re only off by a frequency that can be adjusted with knob-slipping or moving the fiducial, I¡¯d leave it alone. Steve Wedge, W1ES Time flies like

Re: TR-4C Problems with 28.0 and 28.5 bands
Curious Steve, does baking ever make them worse.? ie if you had a xtal that was marginally off frequency are you taking a risk of making that xtal worse than it already is?? I've got a couple that

It¡¯s always worth a go. I get about 70% success. That fact that you¡¯re seeing something happening with them is encouraging. Steve Wedge, W1ES Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

Jim, I didn't notice any capacitors of that brand, but will keep my eyes peeled. I did replace a few electrolytics in key positions in the normal course of business when going through the synthesiser

Very nice write-up. Congrats on finding the problems. A suggestion based on my RV75 experience, if you have any electrolytic caps branded "CAPAR" replace them on sight. They are rubbish. "atlasstuff

Steve, for the uneducated, please describe the baking process. I assume you are rewetting the solder connections on the sides of the crystal blanks. Dave

Dave, it's starting to look like you have two bad crystals. Have you tried baking them? I know this thread is long, so excuse if this has already been done. Steve Wedge, W1ES Time flies like an arrow.
