Re: L4B Vernier Drive - different question
It's too bad Drake did not use a 6:1 vernier on the LOAD control. They also should have used a? 0-100 across the top 180 degs of the panel marking.? ?Done that way...it's just....'dial it up by the

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Rob, To get a signal out on the band, you do need two things.? The PTO and XTAL oscillators need to be on, and the V3 mixer needs to be on.? You have correctly suspected these. I don't know for sure

Re: L4B vernier drive
Yes. These are the lamps? I was talking about.? The leads on the replacement lamps "might" be long enough to drop the front panel and not have to unsolder the lamps.

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
No, the rig is not transmitting - no bias current shown - it is defenitely in standby/RX mode.

Re: L4B Vernier Drive - different question
My L-4B tuning vernier drive fix will appear in the March issue of QST in the Hints and Hacks column. ?As an aside a source of vernier drives and surprisingly some red pointers for two different size

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Update:? I connected my other T-4XC to the setup and discovered that pin 7 of Mixer v3? of my other rig is 240 Volts in stand-by (RX) mode.......? I swapped the 6AU6 but to no evail.? WIll

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Is perhaps VOX being tripped ? Is there bias current showing on the transmitter meter? Hopefully some smart people will be along soon with better questions :-) John wrote:

Re: T-4XC generating unwanted tuned signal in R-4C
Hi John Thanks for thinking with me. Yes, I have another one, a Sure, but that is shortened when the PTT button is not pushed. Then no signal in SSB is generated, however when switching to AM of

Dear all A small addition: the unwanted signal does not appear when the MODE is switched to CW (of course again in stand-by (RX) mode) of the T-4XC 73 Rob PA9Z

Re: T-4XB CW Key Up Hum
Hi Tim So the humming comes from the speaker?? Is it a 60 Hz AC hum, you recon? KR Rob

Re: T-4XB CW Key Up Hum
Hi Rob and thanks for the response. Yes the T-4XB is connected to a R-4B receiver. The hum is present with the receiver turned on or off. I tried as you suggested unplugging each cable one at a time

Re: L4B vernier drive
Yes, but the subject was the neons. Those are the ones that are soldered. Also, I pointed Stan to exact replacements on Mouser. They are still available under the original OEM part number. 73 -Jim
