Re: 2-C Audio Circuit Capacitor Question
I /believe/ the "pointed end" (with the lead sticking out) is + ? Tantalums do NOT like to be hooked up reverse polarity! Let us know how you do. 73, Jim W7RY -- Thanks and 73, Jim W7RY

Re: S meter sticks
I was able to remove the meter from my TR7. It appears when I was removing it, the meter mounting was loose. I did check and the movement is good so no problems there. Replaced the meter and made sure

2-C Audio Circuit Capacitor Question
Working on my 2-C, and am replacing some capacitors.? When removing C64 in the audio section, I notice it has some type of insulating material or shielding under it, between cap and PC board. I tried

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
Replacing PS75 by PS7 is a right move. I have a second set TR7 powered by PS75. Found that PS75 has no voltage regulation. DC output sags when running higher power affecting the transmission envelope.

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
I also removed the AC control from my TR7 as I don't like have AC main running inside it. I terminated the AC power control cable with the jones connector in a plastic box instead of the radio. And

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
I was imagining something similar to the "standby" power source in modern computers inside the PS7. One could even pick it off the incoming mains and rectify/filter it. 73 -Jim NU0C "Dieter Horst"

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
That is correct. I also run my R7 from external DC. It is much cooler. 73 -Jim NU0C "Joseph K4JNG" <jgraif1@...> wrote:

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
The DC connector on the back of the R7 is labeled ¡°In/Out¡±. I was planning on using it to power my CW75. So, does that mean if the AC cord is used, then the DC voltage is ¡°out¡± and if it is

Sicherlich nicht, my friend! This is about alternative ways to power the equipment Thank you, again¡ 73, joe joseph n. graif k4jng Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2023 4:25 PM To: [email protected]

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
My guess is that Drake had to stick with the transformer designed for the space in the R7 despite the fact that the whole circuitry drew more current than anticipated... Buy one of those 2-pin

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
Thank you, Dieter! My R7 runs so hot that you cannot touch the chassis with the cover off. What¡¯s up with that? My TR7 doesn¡¯t even get warm!! 73, joe joseph n. graif k4jng Sent: Tuesday, November

Hello Joe, my description of the relay box was a bit vague. It's what Jim mentioned: "A less drastic solution that I have considered is adding a low voltage circuit to the PS7 to sense the TR7 power

How does the power switching on the TR7 work? I have mine on an ordinary 30A switching supply, and the only connection is two big wires to the radio's Jones connector. Yet the little switch on the

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
No. The PS75 has the same mains routing as the PS7. The PS7 is more appropriate for the TR7 because of the higher current output rating. While the PS75 can be used with the TR7 it was more targeted at

Re: TR7 low band TX oscillation
This is a thing. Unfortunately not one of Drake's best ideas. I have seen at least one case where the owner added a toggle switch to the front of the PS7 and eliminated the mains feed through the TR7.
