I used an hc-29 16-mhz xtal and a home made holder. 16 x 2 = 32 minus 4 gives you 28 mhz. Works well. Cheap too. Here is a link to how I did it in a previous post,.
Wanted: Drake R8B
Looking for a Drake R8B in excellent or better condition and no smoke exposure. The VHF module is highly desired, but not a deal breaker if the radio doesn¡¯t have it. I am good on QRZ. Thank, Lynn

Front panel removal is pretty easy. Because you¡¯re replacing the last wafer, you¡¯re fortunate. It¡¯ll be plenty of work to actually replace the wafer, though. 73 Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies
