Re: 6BN8/8BN8
I suppose that the 8BN8 would more likely be found in the television repair man's caddy. There are quite a few on eBay right now. "Gary Follett via groups.io" <xntrick1948@...>

Re: 6BN8/8BN8
Well, it seems to me to make sense to put in the resistor that Hallicrafters used since 6BN8 tubes are far more common than the 8BN8. In fact, I have half a dozen of 6BN8 tubes and zero 8BN8 tubes.

Congratulations on the crystals. There are two relays. One controls changing over the antenna and mute functions and the other, smaller one changes enabling voltages from receive to transmit. There

The short answer is "no". Unless you like hum in the audio. Longer answer is here: https://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/Why_8BN8-2B.htm ...as well as in discussions in this forum. "amfone via

Re: TR-4C Problems with 28.0 and 28.5 bands
EUREKA! IT WORKED! I baked the 28.0 and 28.5 Xtals for 3 hrs today at 350 then let them cool down for an hour or so. Put them in the radio and now I'm hearing signals on both bands! Xmit isn't working

Re: Drake TR4C / R4C - Connecting Together
Scott, are you attempting to use one TR-4C as a transmitter and another as a receiver such that one can control the other when necessary or desired? The answer is that won't work without some

Re: Drake TR4C / R4C - Connecting Together
Hey, Scott, You can¡¯t transceive with a TR-4(any) and an R-4(any) because the two radios use different IF¡¯s and different frequency mixing scheme. The receivers use A 5645 kHz IF, whilst the

Drake TR4C / R4C - Connecting Together
Hello! I have a Drake TR4C and R4C receiver, and noticed there are no injection cables available for this setup as there were for the T4XC and R4C twins. I know there is an RCA cable (each) for mute,

Gregory, I believe this type to be that which I need for the mode switch on the TR4310. Seems it's no longer listed on the EHC website though. The data I found on it here:

Hi Dave. Just wanted to let you know that was the problem as I now have 10.00 VDC although I will check it at the back panel as they say to do in the manual. I don't know why I did not see that

Dave I just measured the Base to Emitter voltage on Q404 and it is 7.92. I think I found a problem as it seems that the diode is not connected to the pot. I am going to remove the board again and

6BN8/8BN8
OK question. Can a 6BN8 be used in a 2B in place of a 8BN8 and if so what if any differences will occur? Has anyone tried this? Thanks Tim WB8UHZ

Re: TR5 Help
Jim, the fact that the voltage on pin 4 does not change at all bothers me. There should be a volt or two swing with the pot. It makes me think its divider network is open somehow. Check the resistors

Jim, is the voltage on pin 5 also 7.2V? At 7.21V output, the voltage on pin 10 should be around 5.05V and you have 5.3V. Is Q404 good? What is the voltage B-E on it? How about the voltage on its
