Re: L7 question
With power disconnected, take the case off and then remove the metal shield that covers the meters, look at the connections to the meters and make sure they are soldered. I recently acquired an L7

Re: R4C Sherwood audio mod questions
I wondered the same thing, but then I read a bit about the impact of the shape of the shielding on the effectiveness.? Apparently sharp corners are bad.? A cylindrical shape with the end sealed off

Re: R4C Sherwood audio mod questions
Hi Peter >>> Actually CW and even SSB are still quite popular and usable for EME when the total signal strength throughput is sufficient. My neighbor, Mike Melum, KL6M, routinely runs CW and analog

Steve, I don¡¯t know, but removing most of the magnetic field is a better solution. Paul¡¯s shield of the transformer didn¡¯t work. Rob, NC0B

Re: LED pilot lamps again...
Oh, yes. I am a couple of months away from cataract surgery. Was not aware until I had my eyes checked recently just how bad my cataracts are. Hopefully, the implants will make things a LOT better. --

Re: L7 question
It¡¯s your HV meter scale adjustment R17 and is also shown on the schematic. Use a plastic tweaker. How far off is your meter? Are the other scales correct? (Grid current, Watts) If not your meter

Something else to keep in mind about perceived colors, especially white is the average age of most of us in this group and how we see color these days. As an example for me at least, last January I

Re: R4C Sherwood audio mod questions
I definitely concur with Paul that the line-related sidebands affects SSB. As with anything subjective, it depends on the individual listener as to how annoying it is. Rob, NC0B

Re: TR-7A issues part II
Shifting the pots should sound just the same as using the PBT since they use the same mechanism. Read up on how it works. The magic is that the BFO does not actually move, you are moving the passband

Re: LED pilot lamps again...
Yes, Lee 172 is thin. It is not uncommon for ops to use a double or even triple thickness. What I bought was the high temp version of #172. I have not used it anywhere except the 7 line at this point

Re: LED pilot lamps again...
Both Lee and Rosco make gells for lighting. You can get thicker, heavy duty filters that will take heat and not warp from either brand. There is info on the web about the closest colors from both to

Re: R4C Sherwood audio mod questions
Thanks Paul. I'll give this a thought again come Spring, but always seem to have too many other projects on the go....not all radio related. I may give this a try on one R-4C and see how it works out.

Re: TR-7A issues part II
I see the fixed passband pots on the power supply board are changing the divider voltage at the output of the power supply, but changing the pots has no effect on the 5.6Mhz BFO signal with the PBT

Peter, you may wish to keep it a low priority if you¡¯re only a CW op but 60-cycle hum modulation affects received SSB quality at the upper dial position; it¡¯s just not as pronounced as it is with
