Re: Vernier drive
Michael, Vasoline works for me. So does light oil (sewing machine type oil). What is critical is the "squeeze" of the tabs around the edge. 73, Gary WB6OGD

Re: Crystals
Does the SPR-4 use the "same" crystals as the other Drake (R-4x, 2-x)? receivers? I think "AF4K" crystals has them for all the Drakes.

Re: Crystals
One of the option is to use ProgRock2 instead of crystal. Used them for Kenwood TS-520 https://qrp-labs.com/progrock2.html Arthur, VE3EUT

We all have our opinions but consider using only newer synthetic grease. For mechanical PTO and VFO rebuilds, I¡¯m using Mobile1 and Valvoline SynPower brands. Petroleum axle and lithium-based grease

On that topic, "older style" dielectric grease for distributors is sold in small quantities while spark plug boot release is sold in larger quantities and is less expensive. On Saturday, January 27,

Re: Vernier drive
Dielectric grease, like made by Permatex? should work....sold in any auto parts store, etc.? That stuff will handle extremes in temp.

Crystals
Where can I find crystals for my SPR-4 receiver? I¡¯m not hopeful that I can find a commercial source. I need a few for the more common ham related frequencies and 1 or two for the WWV ranges. Thanks

Thanks for all of the comments on the vernier drive. I plan to replace the vernier drive soon. Hopefully the slightly longer leads on the neon panel lamps I recently replace will allow me to rotate

Re: Vernier drive
Really?? Comparing my B line, they seem the same.? The T-4XB does have the 160m section spread out lower but that is the tuned circuits, no? I do have to tear out the vernier in my R-4B again.?
