Re: T4XB Major Bummer
Send it to the group too.? I have a late T-4X that might be the same.

Re: T4XB Major Bummer
If you think the R-4B audio is good, you should listen to an R-4A(early).
Unless.. your R-4B has the Sherwood product detector mod.
Notice how your S-meter moves on SSB signals.? If it moves up and down with sylables,
you need the Sherwood mod.

Re: TR7A and R7A Jumper Boards and Digital Jumper Extender Board
Nice write-up. You found two of the most common TR7 failures, both on the PS board. C2108 us the only capacitor on my "must replace" list for the TR7. It is not a matter of if it fails, but rather when it fails. It lives a pretty hard life. More important than the voltage rating is to use a high quality 105C temperature rated part.
I have a stash of 78L24. :) More recent thinking is that it may benefit from a reverse biased protection diode from output to input as shown on many 78xx data sheets. 73 -Jim NU0C On Thu, 23 Mar 2023 20:04:23 -0700 "n6qwhomebrew@..." <hamradiogenius@...> wrote: Follow the Schematic in the Service Manual and build one, |
Re: T4XB Major Bummer
Peter,
?Not sure if the T4XC is the same it has a 4-wafer switch the T4XB is a 3-wafer switch.? Unfortunately not only is the contact gone, but the wiper has a big chunk missing as well I think it's done for. I have a friend that's going to a ham swap this weekend he's also going to look for a junker T4XB so hopefully between everyone, I can get this thing fixed. Dave |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFollow the Schematic in the Service Manual and build one, ? See the following link for details of the display jumper board The perfboard and the 0.156 pins are bought from Mouser or Digikey. The perf board is from Vector ? ? ? ? ? YMMV. ? 73¡¯²õ Pete N6QW ? Sent from for Windows ? From: aa5wg via groups.io

Dave: If Gary can't help you, I have lots of T-4XC parts that are probably the same.? Get back to me if Gary cannot help. Re: Drake service CDs no longer available from K4OAH?
After reading this thread today and realizing I didn't have the docs for my 2-B, I wrote to Carol at the specified email and got a nice reply 10 minutes later ( ! ). If you go through the listings and prices and put the equipment model you want in the PayPal form, she'll know exactly what you want.
I'm using FFox 111.01. If you are having problems, they have some good security that you may have to turn off or reset. Or maybe you have a useful but annoying extension that's blocking something. Looking at you uBlock Origin. Otherwise you could use the promiscuous Chrome, which I have banished from my Windows 11 desktop. But it probably works in almost any case (no matter what the Goog says about their security). Charlie WB4FAW |

T4XB Major Bummer
I've been going through my B-line the last few weeks and have the R4B running really well such amazing audio compared to the R4C.? So next in line was the T4XB and while cleaning rotary switch contacts I noticed on the back wafer on the function switch part that rotates had a blown-out section from arching in the past. I purchased the twins from a guy about 7 or 8 years ago and never really used them they just sat on the shelf. So if anyone has a spare switch or junker T4XB I'm in the market.? ? Dammit! and I was on the home stretch to completing the B-line restoration.

Re: DRAKE TECHNICAL NET UPDATE ( March 19, 2023 )
Mark, thanks for that information! I am willing to be a NCS if we can have this on days other than Sunday or Monday. Of course, things work better with additional NCS folk. What say?
