Thanks a lot, Jim. Now I'm wanting to buy something I didn't even think about buying 30 minutes ago!

Re: PLJ-8LED debacle and Amazon
I eventually went to eBay hoping to find one. The AliExpress website has been taken down and every other seller was in China. None made any commitment to ship date or delivery date. Things have really changed in just a few weeks. Bill N0CU On Sat, Apr 19, 2025 at 7:12?PM n4buq via <n4buq=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: PLJ-8LED debacle and Amazon
I distanced myself from Amazon a few years ago when they switched to a format where you couldn't identify the vendor before or after the sale. ?Even before that you couldn't tell if something came from an Amazon "warehouse" or a vendor; the number remaining in "stock" was never accurate with the online readout. Too, when doing a search, I've found prices can be significantly lower on eBay or some of the ham sites that allow free ads. Happy Easter Sunday to all.

Mike, The fine print did make it clear that I would be put on Autopay. I have recently read about how hard it can be to cancel Autopay at Amazon. I really don't want to find out. Bill? N0CU On Sat, Apr 19, 2025 at 4:04?PM Mike W5CUL via <w5cul=[email protected]> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBill, ? Sorry to hear about your escapades with the PLJ-8LED.? I imagine the QC on those units is a hit or miss.? I hit 1000 when I ordered my 2 a year ago, no issues. But that was a year ago. ? Sounds like Amazon is getting desperate for revenue; hiding prime subscription in the fine print before you order.? And of course, if you do not make the effort to cancel prior to, once the 3 months expires they auto sign you for another year or so.? I wonder if that is also hidden in the fine print. ? 73, ? Re: Only showing 9MHZ on DD-103
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFirst check to see that you have the 10 volts DC to the PTO. Then measure the resistance from the PTO Output to ground. It should be above 270 ohms. Then use your scope or spectrum analyzer to observe the PTO Output at the PTO and then at ?V1 pin 2. You should clearly see the PTO signal there. Report back. Re: Only showing 9MHZ on DD-103
The IF frequency is 9 MHz but you should not be seeing it at R48. It seams to me that any 9 Mhz leakage should not be strong enough to be picked up by the counter over the PTO signal.

Re: Only showing 9MHZ on DD-103
It's a high impedance circuit so drop across 100 Ohms would be minimal. What I would suggest is that you check R48 for visible damage, bad solder connections, and measure it for value with your Ohmmeter.

Re: Only showing 9MHZ on DD-103
Ken, I do have an O-scope. So your saying to remove the PTO signal wire from R48 and then measure the PTO output signal voltage.
Then re-connect the PTO signal wire back to R48 and use the O-scope to measure the voltage to where the PTO signal wire gets connected to R48 and check to see how
much of a voltage drop I get?
Well I believe I would get some kind of a voltage drop.
I think since I have also a TR-4CW is to do the same two measurements to my other rig so that I know what the voltage measurements on an O-scope should be otherwise I would not know if the 2 measurements on my TR-4CW/RIT are correct.

Re: Only showing 9MHZ on DD-103
Looks like R48 on the marginal scans of schematics that I have. 100 Ohms feeding the grid. C12 would be included in "checks around V1".
