Re: T4XB/R4B Transceive problem
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks Steve.?? ? ? I did try fudging the transmitter and got them to sync but it went too far. Had great base on LSB but on USB I was accused of having shorts that were too tight. ;-). I think need to check the receive crystal frequency and oscillator components. I noticed the crystal has a green dab of paint on it possibly meaning it was graded for certain circuit anomalies during final assembly.? Tony ??? Re: DR7 help
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJimdo you have +5 volts on the VCC pins of the ICs? Sure sounds like you¡¯re not getting power to the board.VCC, as you might well know, lives on pins 14 and or 16 of MOST ICs. Service manual will be your friend. withe the NORM/EXT set in EXT, the display should be on, and showing 00000? mike wb8vge The Heathkit Shop

Re: R4C need PCB foil diagram
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis is one of the reasons why I don¡¯t care to work on the R4C. I know space was a premium, but damn, getting to the bottom of most of those boards even to make voltage checks is a PITA!mike wb8vge The Heathkit Shop

Re: R4C need PCB foil diagram
Evan & Group, Here are some photos of the R4C s/n and PCB. Had an issue with a flaky S-meter adjustment and saw missing foil traces near R-55 (blue 2-legged pot). My clumsy hands knocked off whatever jumper(s) a tech had installed near R-55 to replace the missing traces.? ? I'm trying to get it back together, and finish the S-meter alignment. Re: R4C need PCB foil diagram
Jay, You might want to id which of the three production runs/models you have in case this board is one of the "variables". 73, Evan, K9SQG

Re: R4C rough tuning
Group, Thanks for the suggestions. Did a little cleanup on the PTO shaft and gears? (I thought the technician resolved this) and tuning is more smooth. 73 Jay W6CJ On Thu, Dec 19, 2024 at 7:54?AM VE7PS via <ve7ps=telus.net_at_groups.io_lastradioman@...> wrote:

DR7 help
I don't post much but I do read all the messages but now I need help. The DR7 board in my Drake TR7 has no digital display at all, no periods or digits, just black. I have checked the 5 volt regulators and they are fine. I have cleaned the pins and sockets where?it plugs in and also the top board ones the connectors plug into. I have visually checked the board for bad solder joints but have not seen any. I have checked the STORE switch and cleaned that and also the NORM/EXT switch on the back. All oscillators are working as I have checked them all and done an alignment of them. I have a jumper board installed but have not tried to see if it is receiving but I don't think the calibrator is working or I can't hear it. I wonder if anyone else has had this trouble with a DR7 board? Any hints and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Jim VE1RB |

Re: Discount shipping services?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýVictor Yes mark as shipped add the tracking # from PirateShip label that's it . Ebay sends your final value (less 13.5% ugh) and the shipping cost collected from the buyer, ?probably less the PirateShip? ?? Bill KE7KK |
Re: T4XB/R4B Transceive problem
Tony, there is a chance that either the CO crystal in either the TX or RX has drifted or that one of the passband filters in the tx has drifted. I have a set of B Twins that suffered the same problem and I adjusted the CO in the tx just a little bit to allow everything to meet up. Only a very small change of the tx CO is needed.? C61 only changes the frequency by about 450 Hz. I used the spectrum display in my modern rig (an Elecraft P3 at the time) to watch where the oscillator was via a piece of wire placed near the CO of each unit. A spectrum analyser can do the same thing.? 73, Steve Wedge, W1ES Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Mic Audio in speaker on receive mode
Drakers,
?
? ?I am sure that this has been discussed before, however please bear with me.
?
? ? I? have recently noticed that I can hear the audio from my microphone in the speaker when in receive mode.? ?The was apparent when the radio was connected to a? dummy load for some testing.? ? The radio in question is the TR4CWRIT.? ? The microphones were several from a D-104, to a Electro-Voice 723, to a Drake desk mic.??
?
? ? ?The radio works well on transmit.? I am working stations and getting good reports.? ?I haven't heard (or noticed) the mic audio in the receiver when connected to an actual antenna, although I suspect that the background noise probably covers it up.??
?
? ? ?Any ideas ?
?
73 es thanks in advance,?

T4XB/R4B Transceive problem
Hi Gang,
I have a problem using C61 to net the R4B to the T4XB. The T4XB is perfectly centered in the filter passband according to the alignment instructions in the manual but it doesn¡¯t quite make it. Before I pull the receiver off the shelf and check the IF Xtal frequency I thought I'd run it by the group for ideas. I did try paddling C61 but it didn¡¯t seem to move much. Maybe not enough C paddling? Thoughts before I give K4AX Crystals a call? Tony - W9JXN |
