MN-2000 part needed

Gentlemen,

? I got an MN-2000 tuner off eBay last month and finally had time to test it.? The knob in the upper left ( Alternate / Match 1 / Match 2 / Direct 1 / Direct 2 ) was seized so upon further inspection it appears this unit was hit by lightning.? Does anyone have an extra rotary switch for this tuner?? It's frozen in Match 1 and the rotary contacts were vaporized / welded together.? I would really like to keep this old soldier online if possible.

Regards and 73's

Steve:

I have made numerous attempts to keep up a spreadsheet with model/mfg serial #/options/ condition and a suggested worth.? The trouble was trying to keep it up as gear was bought and (some) sold.? While I still have the last attempt, it is woefully out of date.? I do add a tag on the back of the radio if a piece comes into the shop for a repair, alignment, LED bulbs added, a mod done, etc., that documents what was done and what options are inside, if any.? I have been pretty consistent with that project, at least on the major items. Trying to assess worth is also not easy as it is variable, and is highly dependent on your available buyer market.? Used gear, especially older used gear, doesn't have a lot of potential buyers in this area, so trying to dispose of gear can be really tough.? I have to drive 6 hours now to get to the closest worthwhile ham fleamarket, so you are pretty well restricted to? a couple of those a year or selling online.? The latter involves shipping, which can be near impossible for radio gear weighing 75 to near 200#.

Every time I hear the words "I'll sell it ALL to the 1st guy with $5 grand", it makes me cringe!? Time to start getting busy!? Let's hope this pandemic is over by next fall so we can attend some of the fleamarkets, though it's not looking particularly good at the moment.

I am a "Life" member.? I do not want to burden my XYL any further when its time to deal with my stuff.? I have personally met the folks at HamEstate (Orlando Hamcation 2018) and can personally vouch for them.

I have put their contact sheet of paper in with the other important estate papers in the safe.? I am just carrying on in my interests with a clear mind.

I have no personal interest in them, just a satisfied customer (or should I say my xyl will be a future satisfied customer)

I am also sometimes worried about that subject.
No one at home follows my steps and, in YS, we have no hams. All are dying, and we are no more than 6 hardcore ones who still do DX. The rest only work VHF repeaters and Sats.
I am very small here, compared to you guys (everything fits in a small 1.8 x 2 meters room) and I am worried at 56.... now you, in North America, have accumulated tons and tons of equipment... Have to act As soon as possible and keep only the essential... I guess. Cause it¡¯s going to be a problem for your XYL who will just sell everything by metal weight or simply take it to the dump.

Re: L75 Amp Main Power Switch Availability

Yes, I will be careful not to switch bands while tuning.
Also forgot to mention:
- I protected the meter with two diodes back to back the same way ?I did with the old Collins 30L-1.?
- Added soft keying circuit to protect my radio. Before I had 28 VDC on the relay input. Now I see 1.2 VDC.
- I run the Amp from an Ameritron ICP-240. This saves the Amp from the in-rush current, saves its power switch and protects it from surges.
?
The photo shows it produces 3.0KV?
image2.JPG
?
?
Was using only 200W on FT-8 and behaved well. Worked new Asian countries with a dipole on 20 meters.
image1.JPG
?
?
The problem with the Relative Output problem has now been fixed too.
?
Now I am in need of a tuner like the Drake MN2700 to lower SWR on a couple of bands.
?
Can this amp be used on WARC bands? That another reason I need the MN2700.

I agree with Richard. I had triple bypass over 20 years ago. The recovery wasn't pleasant and takes longer than angioplasty, but it certainly made a difference in how I felt within just a couple of weeks.

Take care Mike and I hope you have a very speedy recovery without any complications.

?? If Mike had angioplasty he will be whole almost right away.
In a strict sense it is not surgery, they do not open you up.
The stents are applied through an artery, usually in an arm or
leg. The arteries of the heart are stretched with a sort of
balloon and the stent is installed. The stent is a sort of
plastic window screen like tube that holds the artery open and
allows normal blood flow in the heart. They want to watch you for
a few days but after that you have a normal life with a great
deal more energy than before the procedure. It is modern magic.
The drugs I was given were a powerful blood thinner that also
makes the corpuscles slippery. It is to prevent clots. I was also
put on a statin, that is something to control cholesterol and
prevent further clogging of the arteries. The thinner can be a
bit of a bother but there is usually not much side effect from
either. Mike may also be getting a blood pressure medication and
will be taking a small amount of aspirin, which is an adjunct to
the blood thinner.
?? I am going into some detail because others in this list are
probably candidates. It is nothing to be afraid of and far easier
than heart surgery.
?? If you have any sort of heart pain, or anything that could
imaginably be heart pain get checked out. You need see a good
cardiologist. They may want to do a stress test, which is simply
putting you on a treadmill while connected to an
electrocardiogram machine. They will want to do an
echocardiogram, which is done with an ultrasonic probe and
doesn't hurt at all. This will tell them the condition of your
heart. Unless you have something unusual an angioplaty may be all
that is required and will both stop any angina (heart pain) and
extend your life many years.
?? Lots of people never even heard of angioplasty even though
its now fairly common. A Google search will find lots of
authentic information about them.
?? I am harping on this because mine saved my life and perhaps
letting others know may save theirs too.

Looking for a decent MN2700

Guys, you know I recently restored a Drake L75.

I am looking for a MN2700 Matching Netwok to fully enjoy my L75 and obtain the best of it.
My antenna is a Barker & Willianson's multiband folded dipole BWD 5-30 that has served me well all these years and will continue but, in a few bands, requires a little tweak to tune.

If someone has a Drake MN2700 available for sale please let me know.
Only AT I have here is an old (also restored) MFJ-941E, but is only good up to 300W.

?? I am going into some detail because others in this list are probably candidates. It is nothing to be afraid of and far easier than heart surgery.
?? If you have any sort of heart pain, or anything that could imaginably be heart pain get checked out. You need see a good cardiologist. They may want to do a stress test, which is simply putting you on a treadmill while connected to an electrocardiogram machine. They will want to do an echocardiogram, which is done with an ultrasonic probe and doesn't hurt at all. This will tell them the condition of your heart. Unless you have something unusual an angioplaty may be all that is required and will both stop any angina (heart pain) and extend your life many years.
?? Lots of people never even heard of angioplasty even though its now fairly common. A Google search will find lots of authentic information about them.
?? I am harping on this because mine saved my life and perhaps letting others know may save theirs too.

Re: L75 Amp Main Power Switch Availability

When needed I run around 700 Watts on digital modes from a pair of 3-500s. The plates show a nice red color after an FT8 TX cycle, but that is good for them. They need to be run with some color in the plates to de-gas. Don't baby that tube! :)

Also made a lot of contacts on 40 and 20 meters FT8 not exceeding 200 mA on the plate of the L75 (20 watts on the exciter) and performed very well. Got new countries into my log. I know this amp is not designed for digital 80% duty cycle modes but can be used with great care with very low input limiting thus the output.
