Re: LCR Meters?

Your other choice instead of a "crappy" meter is a good one.

I chose the B&K Precision 880

It was more money but if you get a cheap meter, you get cheap performance.

Joe,?

I understand that, but at the present time I am still using this equipment, which is why I am waiting for one or more serious inquiries before I disassemble everything, which can be a major PIA.?

Dave, ?it would be a good idea to takes images of the equipment, inside and out, and post them here to the group.? You can actually insert them into your message or attach them.? I have no restrictions on the posting? or attaching images here in Drake-Radio.

The "cheap" Chinese generics have US$600+ prices for something that
measures at 100KHz. That's just insane! I was expecting to see some
used HP meters selling for a couple of hundred bucks. Dream on ... !
Is this really the state of reality? Or am I looking for LCR in all
the wrong places ... ?
It would be nice to get the 6m tuner completed so I can get the
TR-6 on the air, but that's going to be tricky if I can't measure coil
inductance.

Re: LCR Meters?

Look for the cheap Chinese "component testers" on eBay and the usual offshore Amazon clones. I have two slightly different models and they work well. Not lab grade equipment but for 20 bucks you get a lot.

Selling Complete Drake Novice Station

I am selling my Drake Novice Station which is complete with a Drake 2NT transmitter, R2C receiver with xtal calibrator, all original band xtals, and a Johnson 122 VFO. All 3 have been gone through, recapped, & aligned. All tubes checked, and weak tubes replaced with new. Package includes all interconnecting cables, and factory manuals for the 2NT & R2C, and reprint manual for the VFO.?

This station? operates very well, and while the transmitter will put out full rated power, I never exceed the novice 75w input as indicated by the red line in the meter. Everything you need to put it on the air is there with the exception of your key, speaker & antenna. It's essentially a plug and play station.?

If I were to nit pick, there is a tiny bit of noise when adjusting the volume control near the bottom of the range which goes away when you stop turning it. Probably could use a shot of deoxit.?

My only reason for selling is because I'm in my mid 80's, and I'm trying not to leave technical stuff? for my family to sort out.?

I am asking $580.00 for all 3 units, and prefer local pickup in Oakland CA, but I am willing to pack everything at my expense with the buyer paying actual shipping costs with his choice of carrier. If I ship it, please use PayPal + fees. No warranty or returns, but you will not be disappointed. This is a fun rig to operate and I always receive excellent signal reports.?

I am good on QRZ where you can view my station, and I welcome any serious inquiries.?
