Re: Drake SL-2300 2.3-5645kHz Filter Testing
Insertion loss can change a bit with the drive level which is more likely with CW bandwidths. An SSB filter loss should be under 4 dB at a -10 dBm level. A 250 Hz filter may have 10 dB insertion loss.

Re: Drake L7 Power output
To get that kind of power out, I am sure the driver rig is beyond its pro limits , since FT8 is a accumulated pep mode, Most 100 watt pep should only be run at 1/2 power, or 50 watts out 73, Dudley

Re: Drake SL-2300 2.3-5645kHz Filter Testing
We'll try this again, without the fat figered ENTER key... Not particularly. I used the raw output of my NanoVNA-H and Midnight SNA. I would have to dig up what those values are. This does not answer

Jim, Any guidance as to maximum signal level for sweeping these Drake filters? Thanks, Jerry, N4JL

Re: T4X-B no transmit on 75 and 160
I heard it from somewhere and shared it with this group but I can't remember who told me. There is somebody in this group with the physics background who explained why it works. It has something to do

Re: Drake L7 Power output
Many years ago I had one of the short-lived Butternut "butterfly" beams. When they say 1KW CW maximum they mean it. One day I hit it with close to 1300 Watts CW from my NCL-2000 and a doorknob

Wes, Comments inline below. "Wes Winkler via groups.io" <wewinkler@...> wrote: Yes. I have done it with several TR7 filters with both a NVNA and a Midnight SNA. They both agree closely

The antenna is another weak point in some cases.? Most antennas? that have traps or some chokes in them will not handle the near 100 % duty for very long periods .? My OCF will not handle the full

Re: Drake L7 Power output
I don't think anyone is suggesting 1200 watts on FT8 from a Drake amp. My suggestion was more like around half of that at the most. I have a couple of Alphas that would do that but my antenna would

My first suspect with a ¡°one bad band¡± rig, after verifying all the switch contacts, is the band crystal. They are now of the age where their failure rate is significant. If the swapped crystal
