Re: R-4B AGC Issues, Part Trois
Well first of all I see that God has blessed you with patience and empathy.? Thank you.? Thank you. ? I Am writing to you from the hospital.? I came in to the ER Friday.? I have internal bleeding and have had 2 surgeries so far.? Seems age and time have caught up for me. I will continue to do help for people that need it.? Of the projects on the bench several are for others.? I do not charge for this as I enjoy the fix pursuit and help folks out.?? That there are fellow hams out there as you further encourages me to continue. I do not know what the future has for me but as I already have what my family needs then the rest is for those who need it more . Blessings to you, Michael and thank you for a bright point in an otherwise bleak time.? When i am out I will hold you up in my daily mass. Ham radio is not a solitary endeavor.? ?You have just proven this in a unique and gentle way. Re: R-4B AGC Issues, Part Trois
Hello David,
Good to hear from you. ?Thank you for considering my suggestion and returning peace, with kind comments. ?As you have worked hard throughout your life to accomplish good, I understand how you expect an acknowledgement and appreciation. ?Most importantly, you are forgiven, and we need to remember to forgive others. ?Their¡¯s not a single person on this planet who doesn¡¯t need forgiveness from time to time. ?Patience is what most need more of, including myself. ?I¡¯ve ask God for all the attributes of the Spirit. ?He is healing my soul, mind, and spirit; He can do the same for you, or anyone, just ask Him and believe He is able. ?Recognizing errors and areas that need improvement is a gift from God, because it is difficult for us to accurately assess ourselves. ?There¡¯s a negative bias from the Adversary that exists sometimes that can create complete cut-off, when all that is needed is a little grid-leak for nominal operation. ?Considering the circumstances today, I never dreamed as a boy I would see all the types of trouble that exists in this world. ?So, we need to calm down, slow down, relax a good bit, and trust God to guide. ?I would rather have Peace within and be healed of faults or worries than all the Drake B or C Twins in the whole world, brand new, with all the desired improvements. ?The Word says to be quick to listen and slow to speak: I¡¯ve found it¡¯s really better, and wise to remember this. 73, Michael, N4KZO |

Re: TR7 Getting ready to sell. But have to deal with the dastardly DR7 board again. I thought.
New Update:
I used some deoxit that I had in the bottle with a brush applicator. I was able to reach one "wiper" on the AUX Program Switch fairly easily and gave it a dip. Then worked the switch back and forth hoping to spread it out over some contacts.? In my initial testing everything worked fine. I could operate all switches and no issues. I tested on and off for several hours. It did finally fail. And has been intermittent ever since. But I call it 100 % better. I will try it again and see if I can reach more of the switch.? Thanks again for the help! 73 Bill W4WCS |

L7 input coil ajustment
Hey guys, I'm going to be doing a input coil adjustment on my L7 amp. Eimac tubes are getting very soft and I'm replacing them with RF Parts matched pair.
I've done this before and i'm very aware of safety procedures. It's been awhile. I just want to clarify a few things before I start. Procedure (F) I take it that the plate control should also be in the centre of the band I am adjusting , this is not mentioned in procedure. Also when increasing exciter output to achieve a .400 amp. reading on the grid meter, procedure (I) is this correct because my other L7 manual said plate meter. Lastly when tuning the plate control for dip in plate current, procedure (J) is it a greatest dip possible or just a slight dip in plate current?? Thanks for any input you can provide. K5SVC on eBay lists a lot of tubes for old radios. A friend of mine sent me to him when I first got this drake set in case I needed any.

He's gone. But since the archive is viewable by anyone he is probably lurking to see what we say about him. People who get offended want to be.
I also have been enjoying the discussion. If I were not I would simply skip over it. 73 -Jim NU0C On Fri, 12 Jan 2024 13:14:42 +0000 "Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 via groups.io" <w1es@...> wrote: Don¡¯t announce it; just do it. -- 73 -Jim NU0C |
