T4XC help
Now that I have the AC4 rebuilt, I moved on to the T4XC. The transmitter was given to me probably 7 years ago by a now SK ham and has been stored by me since then. Probably not operated in over 10

Re: "C-7" Console
Just make it C-75 and you're good either way. 73 -Jim NU0C "Lyndon Nerenberg (VE7TFX/VE6BBM)" <lyndon@...> wrote:

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Nice catch. Those 1/4 Watt carbon comp resistors that Drake used seen prone to that. 73 -Jim NU0C "Dave Cutts via groups.io" <g4faw@...> wrote:

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Yep, mine is a later one with split rear panel and green solder screen on the boards.. The component position of the Mic input resistors is slightly different. Anyway, found a cracked resistor (150k)

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Yes, there was to the Predriver board. The Transmit Exciter is a completely different board. Both Predriver version are covered in the service manual. 73 -Jim NU0C "Rob Sherwood" <rob@...> wrote:

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Well, no. That is the Predriver board, which did have a major change. The Transmit Exciter board is where the mic amp, PTT/VOX, and balanced modulator live. 73 -Jim NU0C "Doug Crompton WA3DSP"

Re: Harbach AC4 Power Supply Review
t took about 5¨C7 days as I remember. I usually always specify the cheapest shipping method unless I am in a hurry. In this case, it was first class mail. I am near Philadelphia. Doug, WA3DSP

I think your answer can be found here - http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/TR7_Comparison_Article/TR7_Idenity-04.htm Doug, WA3DSP

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Decades ago on a mobile trip from CO to ME my TR-7 quit transmitting. I was in Ohio so Drake replaced the driver board. I think there was a significant upgrade to the replacement board. Rob, NC0B

Re: TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
I suspect the difference is largely cosmetic. Drake started using boards with solder mask in later years. These will have a green coloring while earlier boards are bare tinned copper. A surf of eBay

Re: Harbach AC4 Power Supply Review
I'll second Doug's experience. I used the same kit on a rebuild I did about 6 months ago. Modification / modernization came out fine as did Doug's. Instructions were clear. 73/jeff/ac0c
