Re: Harbach AC4 Power Supply Review
I'll second Doug's experience. I used the same kit on a rebuild I did about 6 months ago. Modification / modernization came out fine as did Doug's. Instructions were clear. 73/jeff/ac0c

Gregg, Look through these messages and you will see the Mouser part, but also check out the other cheaper part mentioned further down. I ordered the Mouser part before I saw the later message. The

Drake TR5 schematic
Does anybody have a good clean clear copy of the schematic for the TR5? Or maybe a place I can download one. I have one but when you blow it up the resolution is terrible as lines are missing etc. I

Doug, Thanks for posting. I just ordered my kit and will give it a go. Can you repost the gland, so I can order one similar to yours? My PS-4 is working just fine, but given its age, I think I want to

TR7 TX Exciter Are there 2 versions?
Hi All, Are there 2 versions of the TX Exciter board in the TR7? My one doesn't seem to be quite the same as the picture in the service manual. Thanks for your help... -- From Dave Cutts G4FAW 73s

Re: TR7 - VFO dial light
My TR7As, R7As and TR5 don't drift at all because they all have the Cumbria Designs X-Lock in them. Drift is not an issue at all. I leave the Drakes and Collins HF-380 on all of the time because most

Harbach AC4 Power Supply Review
Just finished the AC4 Harbach power supply update and wanted to pass on my comments. The kit arrived in a small box and included two assembled boards and a small bag of parts and hardware. The

Re: TR7 - VFO dial light
I would say it is different, say less than 700 hours a year vs. greater than 8000! Why would you need to leave a TR7 on 24/7/365? It doesn't drift. Kind of a waste Doug, WA3DSP

The first ones were from a vendor on ebay and were pretty cheap. The next ones were over 100 dollars from SuperBrightLEDs.com for 16 ft. I've been replacing incandescent bulbs in radios for over 10

Re: T-4XC diode CR1 question
Glad you got that sorted out Bill. Being one of the first recipients of Garey's "CD's", I have long been a promoter of his work. Just wish he'd had more time to finish off all the ones he wanted to

Re: T-4XC diode CR1 question
Peter, without K4OAH's info I wrongly concluded that the 10uF electrolytic cap in the can was the one across CR1. With the help of your info I was able to verify that CR1 has the correct 13V across it

Re: T-4XC diode CR1 question
Bill; You won't regret purchasing the appropriate K4OAH documents for your Drakes. They sure make it easier to find components. They aren't perfect....there is no way Garey could cover detailed parts

Perhaps the waterproof lights you selected were poor quality to begin with.? Here is a guide on the different products and IP ratings.

Re: T-4XC diode CR1 question
Thanks Ken & Peter. Very helpful. The Tx seems to be operating ok- over 120 W out and no observed anomalies. It looks like it is time for me to order K4OAH's manual! -- Bill N0CU
