Dinah to Kenwood "K" connector information anyone please ?
Hi All, ? Ordered 2 DINAH interfaces but for the life of me I cannot find a pinout / circuit example? to go from the DINAH mini DIN to a Kenwood handheld "K" connector (2.5mm speaker + 3.5mm mic) Anyone able to share that info please ? cant believe with baofengs etc out there that this is the first time anyones wanted to do this ? Many thanks in advance! ? 73 de CQU |
I believe this is the cable you need: -? It looks like they are out of stock at the moment bu since?each cable is pretty much made to order, you might contact them. The basic cable is siple?a cable connecting the sound lines to the radio. the PTT is also carried over the sound lines as well and last I remembered required a resistor in the cable.? But since they provide this as turnkey?... On Tue, Feb 1, 2022 at 11:41 PM Rob MW0CQU <mw0cqu@...> wrote:

DINAH takes advantage of the fact that all the required signals (COS, PTT, audio) are available at "standardized" levels at the 6 pin miniDIN packet/data connector of some ham radios. A radio interface for Allstar using the CM108B/CM119B USB audio IC requires a COS signal from the radio.? ?This is not directly available at the external speaker/microphone connector of an HT.? Thus, in order to use DINAH for Allstar, you will have to open the radio and find a suitable point to connect to or create this COS signal with external circuitry.? One such project which does this for some Baofeng HT's can be found at:

As you noted in your question, you will surely have to adjust the audio level by adjusting the R1/R2 and R3/R4 voltage dividers.

If you are using the DINAH for packet, APRS, etc then the COS signal is not required and an interface cable as suggested by Don may work fine |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIs there a version that has TRRS on one end suitable for Yaesu HT¡¯s, specifically the FT-70? Now that would sound good. I still contend the FT-70 has the best TX and RX audio of any currently-available HT on the ham market. |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhoops, ignore that. I didn¡¯t fully understand the necessary connections involved in Dinah-to-HT interfaces. ? ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Chris Smart via groups.io

I am finding that the present font pof all TNC cable knowledge at thjis point?is: -? I have worked with them on a few cable issues and their cable engineering?is very good!. I think you meant 6 pin mini-din to Yeasu HTs: -? If they don't have the cable you?need, I find that they can be very accommodating?in helping design/build a specific?cable. -?
