what is jp1 for ?
I finally got my DINAH running into a Kenwood TMV71A as an all star node and it sounds like crap. I set up the TMV71A menu 518 and 519 to the appropriate settings. I adjusted everything i could on the allstars RPi3 node. I noticed a jumper mentioned jp1 in the manual but i do not know what it is for. Does anyone out here know? Does anyone have any experience with bad audio?

JP1 was included in case someone wanted to use DINAH for a non-standard interface to a radio. The center pad of JP1 (JP1-2) is connected to Pin 4 of the miniDIN connector (which is 9600 in the packet interface definition).? It is open circuit to JP1-1 and JP1-3 in an unmodified DINAH
Please clarify which audio is bad - your receive audio (what you hear) or your transmit audio (your audio that others hear) or both. I have used a DINAH with a TM-V71A and had good audio.? Also donated a DINAH to a new ham (high school kid) who couldn't make the local repeater with his TM-V71A and he sounds good also. Are you using the DIN cable that came with your DINAH.? I ask because I I know that the cable we supply will not fit into the extra deep round hole of the miniDIN connector on the TM-V71A because the molded end of our cable is not round after the first 1/8" or so.? We shaved off some of the the molded end to make it round.?? |
I am sorry for not being more specific. The audio from my allstar node RPi3b+ to the Kenwood TMv71a is the audio that i am having problems with. The audio from the radio though the node sounds perfect. I am using the cable that came with the DINAH and may not have noticed the fit. I will go back out to the remote site tomorrow and look for that issue and trim if needed. I moved away from the area that I have accessed all of my repeaters from for years and set this radio up at my old home and am remoting into it from my new home. Thank you for your help. I will reply to the group my findings.
