In the context of rising electricity prices, and with EU appeals for the sustainability of resources and the corresponding progressive adoption of renewable energy sources to reduce dependence on other sources of electricity, it may be worthwhile to open a reflection on the energy efficiency and sustainability of radio in Spain. Says Javier Sanchez: "Not only are notable electricity savings achieved thanks to the fact that DAB+ is much more energy efficient than FM, but also the number of transmitters and transmitter centers is reduced, with the reduction in operating costs that this entails."
