DD Mode on G2 Gateway Question

We moved one of our DD mode repeater sites from our home made Linux/DNAT/DD-WRT back end to a stock G2 Gateway.? Our legacy normal setup ?allows any to any and one to many on ID-1 as each ID-1 has a unique subnet.? On our system, we either use a static IP or have DHCP.?

On the G2 server in DD Mode, what IP address is assigned to an ID-1?? Does the repeater have one?? Does it matter if the G2 server is online or offline to the G2 trust server?? ??Our application requires perhaps 4 ID-1s to communicate to one ID-1 at our finish line, all of which are in direct RF range of the repeater site.? ??We can of course use “bent pipe” mode on the repeater, but this would require pairs of radios.?

Erik,
?Perhaps I'm not the most knowledgeable one to answer this but I'll relate my experience ..
I built up a Slackware server with Citadel a year or two ago with some help from your Linux team. ? I don't recall that I ever got the DNAT part working but Citadel worked fine.?? I gave the Slackware box a 172.16.0.x static IP address and put it on a hub with the RP2C and the G2 server on the back end.?? The combination worked fine in that I was both able to access the Slackware box (with G2 Server down) and access the internet through the G2 Server.?? To access the Internet through the G2 server, I had to change the IP address in the ID-1 from a 172.16.x.x flavor to the 10.x.x.x IP address that is assigned by the Trust server to the Call sign in the ID-1 during the registration process.?? I'm pretty sure that at least the Local G2 server must be up for this to work and perhaps it would work with the Call / IP Address cached locally but you would have had to have communication with the Trust server at some point I believe
I saw this is the best of both worlds but I'm sure it could be improved upon :-)
Hope that helps

?Ron
