ID-1 transmit audio quality

Has anyone found a way to improve the transmit audio quality from the ID-1 with the HM-154 microphone? It seems that this combination is lacking in the upper audio frequencies.

When using a repeater to crossband to a IC-2820, the lack of fidelity is evident when listening to the ID-1 on the 2820, and the fairly good quality of the 2820 comes through the ID-1 speaker. This all points at the ID-1 or HM-154 as the item not being the best. Since it's digital from the radio, through the repeater, and out to the next radio, repeaters don't affect the audio quality; they just pass bits.

Hello, this ist Stefan, DL 1 BH, from the northern part of germany,
i have the same experience, modulation in fm mode is much too "high", in my opinion in dv it seems to be ok,
i took several mikes, the best results gave the original microfon of an old 706.
Please let me know your experience,
thanks in advance and excuse my bad school english,
best regards,
Stef.
