Re: Alaska New 1.2 Repeater on the air this weekend
I can routinely reach a 1.2 repeater 65 miles away, usually with 1 watt and only my 5' outside antenna. My antenna is only at the height of my roof, and I understand the 1.2 antenna is on the roof of

Re: 1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
I have a real power meter. That is, a meter that uses directional couplers and attenuators, etc. I have compared my Bird 43 to it. On 23 cm, the Bird is OK. Depending on the slug, it is within 5% of

Re: 1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
I have used BIRD 43 watt meters for years having three of them, two won at hamfests! :-) I also have the DAIWA CN-801 which is dual meter .9 to 2.5GHz meter and I have found it accurate (~10%) and

Re: 1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
The Bird Wattmeter is the one. Expensive though. Our club has one.
Uses various "slugs" for the different frequencies and power.
It's really a commercial product but accurate.

1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
I need a wattmeter to troubleshoot a problem with my VHF mobile, and I
thought I'd get one which also worked on 1.2 GHz, even though I have no
problems there right now. Any recommendations? Bonus

The GP-95 also is much lighter than the GP-98. Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: 2m/70cm/23cm tribander base station antenna recommendation?
I have considered those. There appear to be plenty of D-STAR repeaters
here in the San Francisco Bay Area too. For my car, I'll likely get either
of those. For my home, I was leaning towards the

Re: 2m/70cm/23cm tribander base station antenna recommendation?
I'll let others comment on antenna recommendations.
However since there is a lot of D-STAR activity on 2m & 70cm have you considered a D-STAR mobile like the ID-880H or IC-2820H?

Re: 2m/70cm/23cm tribander base station antenna recommendation?
I have had a GP 95 up for several years. Works fine. I prefer it to a GP 98 because it is a one piece antenna vs a two piece radiator for the GP 98. A fraction of a db less gain, but one less thing to
