I'm glad yours worked. My first guess on your friends ID-1 is the Com port is NOT com 6. He can verify the Com Port with the ID-! program in the "Options" menu. Then set D-Rats to that port number.

Larsen made one in the 90's that performed very well for me. I would look there.
