Check your drivers in the device manager when you have the ID1 connected. Look under the ports (com and lpt) and see if you see it there. If you do it will tell you what com port the radio is on.

You didn't indicate if you were including a standard D-STAR repeater in the setup or not, it makes a big difference. While there is not necessarily anything that would preclude the Open Mesh
