National Hurricane Net Test Saturday Morning Using D-STAR & D-RATS
----- Forwarded Message -----
From: "wb4qdx@... [ga_dstar]" <ga_dstar@...> To: ga_dstar@... Sent: Thursday, May 29, 2014 1:13 PM Subject: [ga_dstar] National Hurricane Net test saturday morning Just a reminder that the annual test of the National Hurricane?Net will be conducted this Saturday.?? This is the first year that D-STAR and D-RATS will be a part of the reporting for the test.?? Our Georgia D-STAR repeaters that are normally linked to REF030B will be linked to REF002A between 10:00a and 12:00 noon on Saturday for the test.?? Other repeaters around the southeast coast will also be linked to REF002A for the test. ? Any D-STAR repeaters in Georgia that can be linked manually to REF002A for the test is appreciated. There will be a Net Control Station during the voice net.? As we do with the Southeast D-STAR Weather Net on Sunday evenings, we will call for Quick Key check-ins by state.?? Each station will then be contacted to provide their report.?? For the test, we are looking for actual local conditions at your location.?? Please use the reporting format found in the document in the Files section, WX4NHC Reporting Form. For those wishing to submit a report by D-RATS, a special ratflector has been setup for this net, drat.seweather.net.?? Reports can be submitted in D-RATS via Messaging addressed to Net Control as the Destination Callsign?using a special form, NHC_surfacewx.?? To use this form, copy the two files, nhcsurfacewx.xml and nhc_surfacewx.xsl into the Forms folder in your D-RATS application on your computer.? Alternately, you can import the xml file as a new message template.? The files are also found in Files section of this group. We appreciate all stations who participate in this net test to demonstrate the value and flexibility of D-STAR. Thanks, John WB4QDX |

Re: Video over DD- Not full duplex
Erik Westgard
开云体育Two way LAN type streaming video conferencing won’t work well this is a 90 kbps half duplex link with some extra overhead.? ?We did a test with the free MS app- the link saturates quickly.? ??But you can crank the data rate way down and use it for a remote camera. ?You could possibly find an app that works say over satellite and is compressed and rate limited.? If you need voice- the radio has a lovely voice mode J ? Erik NY9D ? |

Re: Video over DD
The ID-1 does not have a USB connector on it for the camera. Just an ethernet port for network connectivity. Rick

Re: Video over DD
You could in theory then attached a IP camera directly to the ID-1 and access it from another ID-1 and computer, ?yes video could be jerky but if the resolution was lowered if might be ok?
Or, ?use a peer to peer video software like the old net conference from windows for easy 2way video qso. I did this many years ago on 2.4 ghz over a 7km path between myself and vk3yy. Naturally the link was faster but only 2mbit/s. ?Video was very good along with audio. Regard? Mark |

Re: Video over DD
Hi Mark, This is what I did: Connected ID-1 to Linksys wireless router. Laptop picked up signal from the Linksys to put the laptop on line. Connected laptop to Stickem.com, a video streaming site. (which is not closed)
Connected HD cam to laptop and started to stream video. I viewed the video feed on my iPhone from the Stickem site, that was also WiFi connected to the Linksys router. The video was jerky due to the HD camera and the 10mb data feed, but it worked!
