Out standing on the 21 mile Contact, As of now the
Antenna is mounted on a tripod that is sitting on the ground Guess it will have
to wait until summer to get it on the tower but I can still play with the band
never the less.
hope to hear you on the air some time.

Re: Alaska New 1.2 Repeater on the air this weekend
I can routinely reach a 1.2 repeater 65 miles away, usually with 1 watt and only my 5' outside antenna. My antenna is only at the height of my roof, and I understand the 1.2 antenna is on the roof of the building on a 2600' hill. I don't believe it's quite line-of site to me as another ridge is between us. Don't give up too quickly...

Re: 1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
beamar
I have a real power meter. That is, a meter that uses directional couplers and attenuators, etc. I have compared my Bird 43 to it. On 23 cm, the Bird is OK. Depending on the slug, it is within 5% of the power meter. On 2304, it is off by 10%. I have never compared a Comet or any of the other meters that are available. Could be interesting.? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have used BIRD 43 watt meters for years having
three of them, two won at hamfests!? :-)??I also have the DAIWA
CN-801 which is dual meter .9 to 2.5GHz meter and I have found it
accurate?(~10%) and lot prettier than a Bird. Bird, however may be one of
few choices you have which will cover all the freqs you mentioned.?

DD During Sandy
james
Hey it worked. I was very lucky, after the storm, I only lost power for three days. My cable (internet) also down. It looks like all the batteries in the green amp boxes up on the poles were dead. My 3g/4g sprint device was also down. My last resort 1.2ghz DD. A real big thank you to the guys at NJ2DG, Martinsville NJ. Sure I couldent surf the net but the connection worked fine for email and facebook. Using a cradlepoint wireless access point. My wife (kb2eyn) my self (ka2oon) and my daughter were all able to stay connected, sending and receiving welfare reports.
Other things like, generator, patch type TV antenna, made the aftermath no big deal, for us here. Thanks again to the guys that run the Martinsville Stack, at NJ2DG Jim Sullivan KA2OON |

1.2 GHz wattmeter recommendations?
Matt Harrington
? I need a wattmeter to troubleshoot a problem with my VHF mobile, and I thought I'd get one which also worked on 1.2 GHz, even though I have no problems there right now.? Any recommendations?? Bonus points for something which gives me flexibility down the road.? I'll likely get into portable operating with something like an Elecraft KX3 this winter, so an easily transportable wattmeter would be great.?

However since there is a lot of D-STAR activity on 2m & 70cm have you considered a D-STAR mobile like the ID-880H or IC-2820H? 73, Mark, WB9QZB --- In D-STAR_23cm@..., Matt Harrington <mbh.lists@...> wrote:

I have had a GP 95 up for several years. Works fine. I prefer it to a GP 98 because it is a one piece antenna vs a two piece radiator for the GP 98. A fraction of a db less gain, but one less thing to go wrong. Buddy WB4OMG On Nov 2, 2012, at 2:43:20 AM, "Matt Harrington" wrote:
