D-Star Picture Net on REF055D every Wednesday, at 7:30 PM (MDT) or 0230 UTC I managed to stay awake long enough to take part in that net last night and received several pictures and managed to send a couple.? I need to get my head round setting the size of the pictures for better resolution, but I'll look at that later today. After talking on the net I figured out how to use the ST-4001W to "Save" rather than "Transfer" to the SIM card, so that's another step up the learning curve. |

Re: Swapping pictures
not many rules about where you can send.
Please DON'T send on REF030C or REF001C or any busy reflector. Announce yourself and intentions before sending pictures. Listen before you send To others on the air, it tends to sound like silence or maybe beeping, in any case, Others may think that you are trying to talk but not getting any audio out. So please make sure that others know that you are sending first. |
Swapping pictures
David Ackrill
After messing about with the settings in Menu>Set>Network>IP Address, and after connecting my IC-9700 to my shack PC via a LAN cable, I've managed to successfully upload a picture from the ST-4001W software to the IC-9700, I'm now looking to try transmitting a picture and receiving some back. I'm not sure what the etiquette is for sending pictures via repeaters and Gateways/Reflectors. Is there a document suggesting what is and isn't acceptable? I'm also not sure if there's anyone about my area, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire, UK, who might like to try swapping pictures using D-Star? I think it is possible to swap pictures with other radios than the IC-9700 as well, by using D-Star. Thanks - Dave (G0DJA) |
Re: 23cm D-STAR Activity in UK?
David Ackrill
Over a year later (I admit I've not done much with DStar in between) I've managed to get into the GB7NA-B node on 439.450 MHz but I've not had any success with GB7NA-A on 23cm yet. I'll wait for the repeater keeper to come on and will ask him if the 23cm system is running.

Re: IC-9700 "model number"
It's just a "model number".? CI-V has a command to query information about the radio using its model number.? That's the way the cloning software works to give you an information readout.? Of the 5 current DStar radios, each has its own model number for this use.? Varying levels of compliance on ICOM's own part (typical) exist.? Some radios do not report anything using the "Information" button in the associated cloning software.? This I would consider a firmware bug.

IC-9700 "model number"
Greetings all,
Can anyone identify the "HVIN" code (usually 4 digits followed by some zeros and ones) associated with the IC-9700.? All of the other current DStar radios have one, but it doesn't seem to be printed anywhere on the 9700 or its packaging.? This code is used to interrogate the serial number of the radio via CI-V. Re: Has anyone successfully connected to a 1.2 GHz DD mode repeater with an IC-9700 and accessed the internet?
What version of the D-Star DD system are you using? Does you question relate specifically to configuring the IC-9700 to an existing DD system that already works with other radios like the ID-1 or are you attempting to configure both the D-Star 1.2G gateway as well as the radio?
