Tnx-
Live in LA, grid DM04VC.? Using a GP-98 tri-band antenna, a little higher than roof level.
I can hit FM repeaters on Mt WIlson, sometimes one in Hollywood Hills, 1287.65 on Santiago.
A lot of them seem to be shut off, or maybe Repeaterbook has the wrong tone info?

Know of any simplex FM, DV or SSB nets on 23cm?

N0NAS reminded me there is a good, solid commercial antenna for 1.2.? We have one on a government site.? Ten years so far.?

We use Comet GP95s - lots of them.? They are a decently sturdy antenna - but have a fatal, 100% flaw.? The 6MM bolt on the base always loosens and the antenna always starts to wobble and spin, causing the coax to break off or come unscrewed. The bolt base fix is easy- a stainless hose clamp.? ?

?

The GP-21 is similar base wise.? ?We have had no piece Comet fiberglass whip failures on 300' rooftops.? GP-3s have been good.? I have not had good luck with the GP-98 or other multipart Comet fiberglass whips.? I am personally seen four GP-9s fail.? They are hopeless for repeater service.?

?

There are some other fiberglass 1.2 multiband whips- MFJ has one- not bad.? I am not sure there is much demand for 1.2 commercial antennas.? We use very few single band 1.2 antennas as we are usually delivering multiple bands per (scarce) antenna mount even on our tower trailer fleet.?

My choice for a repeater antenna would be a Hustler Spirit - They come in 6,9, 10 & 12 Db gain varities

I've set up a Comet GP-21 for event use at times.? However, fiberglass
antennas don't seem to last as long as some antennas
such as the ones that Telewave makes.?
However, at present Telewave doesn't make an antenna for 1.2 GHz.

Currently a local repeater is using a Telewave ANT150D6_9 on 2 meters.??
It's a great antenna for the coverage area we have.

If Telewave made a similar model for the 1.2 GHz band, would you buy one?

Tom -?

It was good to see you at the Jefferson hamfest.?

The RF folder in the Files area of this group has several 1.2 GHz antennas described.?

I understand the Hustler Spirit commercial grade 1.2 GHz antennas are very durable.?

We're using a GP-21 on top of the 250 ft. tower at the repeater site.? At home, I use a Comet CYA-1216E.? Both have been in service for nearly ten years and are doing very well.

Re: Used ID-1 frequency range starts at 1260 MHz

I see, that makes sense. The unit did ship from Japan!

Is there any sort of modification I can do to open it up for the US band? ?I wonder if Icom could help…

Thanks!

Re: Used ID-1 frequency range starts at 1260 MHz

Lower limit of the Japanese band is 1260

Used ID-1 frequency range starts at 1260 MHz

Hi,

I’ve just received a used ID-1 that I bought off of eBay. ?Strangely, I can only tune from 1260 MHz to 1300 MHz. ?All the documentation I can find says that the range should be 1240-1300 MHz. ?I also tried the control/programming software, and it appears to have or enforce the same limitation. ?A full transceiver initialization does not fix the problem.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks,

Re: IP address settings for DD mode IC-9700

internet connectivity is working? with G3 but the Mtu? must be smaler than 1412 , mine is 1200?? . This is to avoid jumbo packet .

Hello Gents,

?

??????????? Here is the reply from ICOM America DSTAR system admins and engineering.?? Packet size has been limited to stop system crashes at gateway level, something G2 gateway software did not address.? This is a feature of G3 whether we like it not.

?

???????????

“Based on feedback to my DD MTU questions…

?

G2 did not check a packet size. This sometimes caused G2 DD mode crashes when a jumbo frame was received from the internet. The DD mode was changed in G3 to check a packet size. The G3 MTU size is 1412.”

Tidbit that may help clarify, the radio doesn’t have an IP address. If you registered on a G2 gateway, then the address was listed when you registered. If you don’t know what it is, you can probably pick something in 10.2.2.x and be safe.

?

But I don’t believe that the Internet connectivity feature is working with G3 and it wouldn’t matter. ?You just need to set a IP Address consistent with who you want to talk to.

Subject: [D-STAR23cm] IP address settings for DD mode IC-9700

?

Hello All,?

I am trying to connect a laptop to my IC-9700 setup in DD mode. The radio is connected to WX4GPB module A. How does one find the static address assigned to the laptop? I have found absolutely no information on this. If anybody know how to find this (even if it is for the ID-1) please give me some hints

Thanks!!!

Re: Query - any D-Star 1240-1300 DD networks still in use?

Erik,

Good point. If ppl already have 9700s for other purposes, though, and are looking for another use, then 23cm might be considered since it's already "in the box". That's what some of us locally have had in mind. But, otherwise, your Ubiquiti approach makes sense. I use them everyday for A-B or A-B-C internet connectivity. Still it all depends?on the location and application.
