Gradient Bands Side Border

Supplies Needed:

PSP

Tube of choice

(One that?is taller than wide?works best for this tut)?

Accent of choice

Supplies

::Preparation::

Place filter in plugins folder in PSP.

?Open tube in PSP, duplicate and close original.

Open mask (sg_horizontal-bands)

?& accents.

All settings remain the same?unless otherwise stated.

Lets get started!

1) Highlight tube, Image resize.

Settings:

Resize all layers =checked

Lock aspect ratio =checked

Resample using bicubic =checked

Height =no more than 300 pixels

Width =will adjust itself

2) Adjust,?sharpness, sharpen.

(If Needed)?

3) Dropper tool??left click on your tube and choose a dark color, set it to your foreground.

4) Right click on tube and choose a lighter hue of the same dark color and set it to your background.

5) Materials palette

Foreground to gradient.

Settings:

Foregound-background gradient,

Angle =0, repeats =0, style =linear,

invert unchecked, add texture =unckecked.

6) File, new image,

325 x 375, transparent.

7) Flood fill ?with gradient.

**Optional Step**

If you like to set off the bands more

8) Adjust, Add/Remove noise, add noise

Settings:?

Random checked, monochrome checked, noise =8%.

9) Effects, texture effects, blinds

Settings:

Width =2, opacity =25, color =your light color, or white.

Horizontal checked, Light from left/top unchecked.

10) Layers,?new mask layer, from image

Settings:?

Source window =sg_horizontal-bands.

source luminance checked, invert mask data checked.

11) Layers, merge group.

12) Effects, image effects, seamless tiling

Settings:

Edge & Vertical checked,

at default settings.

13) Image, canvas size.

Settings:

1280 x 375?

Middle left arrow checked.

14) Layers, new raster layer.

15) Layers, arrange, send to bottom.

16) Flood?Fill ?with black,

?or foreground color.

17) Effects, texture effects, blinds

Settings:

Width =2, opacity =25, color =your light color, or white.

Light from left/top checked, horizontal unchecked.

18) Edit, copy tube.

19) Edit, paste as new layer on working canvas.

20) Layers, arrange, bring to top.?

21) Effects, 3-D effects, drop shadow

Settings:

V?& H =0, opacity =80, blur =?12, color =your?dark color (or if using a dark color for your background use black)?shadow on new layer unchecked.

?

22) Move tool ?move your masked layer & tube?over to the left, leaving enough room for your text.

?

23) Layers, new raster layer.

?

24) Selection tool ?

Settings:

Selection type =Rectangle, mode =Add(Shift), feather =0, Anti-alias checked.

?

Select the very edge of your masked image on the right side.

Like so.

25) Fill with your?dark color.

?

26) Effects, plugins, Gregs Factory Output V.2, Pool shadow at default settings.

?

27) Effects, texture effects, Blinds,

Settings:

Width =2, opacity =60, color =your dark color, Light from left/top checked, horizontal unchecked.

Repeat blinds 3 times for a total of 4 times.

Select none.

28) Effects, image effects, seamless tiling,

Same settings.

29) Effects, 3-D effects, drop shadow,

Settings:

V & H =0, opacity =80, blur =?12, color =your?dark color,?or use black,?shadow on new layer checked.

30) Effects, image effects, seamless tiling, same settings.

31) Layers, merge visible.

33) Add your text.

34) Apply the same drop shadow.

35) Add your accents.

36) Add drop shadow.

37) Add your?water mark.

38) File, export JPEG with compression value set to 25.
