Available Again: PSR Convention Pacific Electric Boxcar
Available Again: PSR Convention Pacific Electric Boxcar The earlier post on this HO scale car is below. Those cars quickly sold out even though the convention is not until September. Yesterday I received this information from the convention staff member James Keena: "Today I received additional shipment of Pacific Electric single sheathed Convention Cars from Accurail. They were able to add on to our previous order and manufactured an additional 34 cars for us. I have already sent out several cars to persons that have already ordered them. There are now 27 of the cars remaining that are available again for sale. They include renumbering decals as well as vinyl self adhering convention logos. If you would like, you can update your previous posting for the Pacific Electric car indicating that they are again available for sale at the price of $28.00 for pick up at the Convention. The Convention website has been revised to include the option of an additional $5.00 for postage and handling for those that would like the car mailed to them." These are bound to sellout fast as was the case with the first batch. Sorry, the N scale convention car no longer is available. Bob Chaparro Moderator Model Railroads of Southern California +++++ March 5, 2020 Now Available: 2020 PSR/NMRA Convention Boxcar Car The Pacific Southwest Region/NMRA is offering its 2020 Convention Boxcar to the public. This is an Accurail HO scale Pacific Electric single-sheathed boxcar kit custom produced in a limited amount for the upcoming Convention. (An N scale car also is available.) The HO Scale Model Below is a photo of the model as built by me. This car is similar to but not the same as the Accurail Pacific Electric boxcar that was produced in 1993. That car also was sold by Alpine Division Scale Models. Accurail's 1993 car had wooden ends and was numbered 10134. The Convention car, numbered 2720, has steel ends and is a near replica of Pacific Electric's Class B-50-13 boxcar. The kit comes with a decal sheet for renumbering the car plus a separate add-on Convention logo. The Prototype Originally, there were 3,700 B-50-13 boxcars built in 1924 by the Standard Steel Car Company for the Southern Pacific and its subsidiaries. Two hundred cars were assigned to the Pacific Electric and numbered 2700-2899. As built, the cars had wood ends. Many of these cars received steel ends in the 1930s. PE still owned 177 of these cars in 1950. In June following year these cars became part of the SP fleet.??? Prototype PE B-50-13 photo from the Alan Weeks Collection: How To Get The Model You do not have to be registered for the Convention or be an NMRA member to buy the model. Visit the PSR Convention's Registration website at: Drop down to the Company Store Section. In this section scroll down to: Convention Car HO-Scale (Accurail Pacific Electric Single Sheath Boxcar, includes Convention Decal) $28.00 [Postage & Handling $5.00 extra] Click on "Add to Cart". You can pay with PayPal or credit card. The PSR Convention Committee will pay your shipping cost. Enjoy your Pacific Electric boxcar model. NMRA - X virtual convention Info for this Fri-Sat
dleese
NMRA - X virtual convention Info for this Fri- to Saturday afternoon, some good clinics.
We are all stuck at home, lots of our Regional and National Conventions have been cancelled this spring due to Covid-19, so I have worked hard with support from the team at A Modelers Life Podcast to deliver an NMRA first. A virtual convention. We will have clinicians and layout tours from across the world, representing the true global nature of our hobby and the NMRA. Once per hour we will have a different clinician start their clinic using facebook live in our NMRA facebook Group. Before the event I will add the schedule of clinicians/tours. We still have a few time slots to fill and could always use reserve clinicians so its not too late to get involved. All Event times are in British Summer Time (UTC +1), please adjust for your local time zone. Thanks for everyone's support Gordy Robinson NMRA Social Media Team, Div Rep for Div 12 (Scotland), NMRA British Region |

As a member of the CSC On30 group, I'm also hoping we have a spot at Pomona and the show happens. We have lost two events we were in, including CIM3, which was canceled by the Ed Center, not Cajon.

Re: What is everyone working on?
Thx Dain. My helix might be a little unconventional since I plan to have one helix to serve all three levels. I hope I'm not "biting off more than can chew."

NMRA Special Announcement: Convention cancelled
dleese
*St. Louis 2020 National Convention and*
*National Train Show cancelled* * * As everyone is aware, the coronavirus has had a devastating impact around the world. It has caused the death of tens of thousands of people and that is not something to be trivialized. The NMRA National convention, Gateway 2020, is scheduled to start on July 12, 2020, in St. Louis, Missouri. That being said, the local host group has determined that they can no longer continue with the preparations and operation of the convention. Among the reasons for this decision is the fact that one key member is ill with COVID-19. The host group requests your prayers for him. Additionally, some members of the local model railroad community have withdrawn their model railroads from the tours, based on their understandable and valid concerns about allowing persons in their homes who may have the COVID-19 virus. Even if the virus is well under control, that does not mean that everyone who attends the convention would be virus-free. Robert Amsler, Manager of the Meetings and Trade Show Department has advised the Officers and the Board of Directors of this decision and the Officers and Directors fully support cancelling the convention. Neither the Gateway 2020 crew nor the NMRA made this decision in haste or without careful consideration of all involved. The cancellation is in the best interest of the NMRA members, their family members, and the NMRA. It is noteworthy that the NMRA has never cancelled a convention before Gateway 2020 and that includes during World War II. For those who have registered for the convention, the refund policy will be published as soon as possible at Gateway2020.org <>. We, the Gateway 2020 Committee, will need some time to make the necessary changes to the website to process the refunds. Again, all involved regret this decision but we trust that you will understand the necessity and reasoning behind the decision. |
NMRA 2020 Convention & Train Show Cancelled
NMRA 2020 Convention & Train Show Cancelled I just checked yesterday and the convention was still on. Evidently, in the last twenty-four hours concerns had grown to the point that caution was the order of the day. Details are on this link: Bob Chaparro Hemet, CA |
