Video: Corona Model Railroad Society
Video: Corona Model Railroad Society A thirteen-minute video tour of this HO scale model railroad:
Quite a bit of Santa Fe action on this railroad. Description: The Corona Model Railroad Society was created to represent 1940s Corona in the heyday of its citrus production. But not only its agriculture. The lumber, mining, manufacturing and all the trackside industries engaged in trade from other communities to other countries. This is the story of how Corona became what it is today, and the railroad's major role during the past. An entire house, which sets on the park property, is devoted to the 600 sq. ft. display. The model railroad is fully operational depicting a Corona and Southern California circa 1949 when Corona was "The Lemon Capital of the World" and America's railroads were in transition from steam to diesel. The model railroad features the Santa Fe Third District with the cities of Corona, Fullerton, and Riverside modeled. Location: On the grounds of Corona Heritage Park & Museum 510 W. Foothill Pkwy, Corona, CA Do not use the address posted with the video. Open Saturdays Only: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Bob Chaparro Moderator Model Railroads of Southern California

Dave Balser
It's my sad duty to report that Dave Balser of Hemet recently passed away.
Dave was known for his On30 Onion Valley Mining & Lumber Company and most recently for organizing a very well attended public train meet at his retirement community.

Early ¡°Heads Up¡±: 2025 Pacific Coast Region Convention
Early ¡°Heads Up¡±: 2025 Pacific Coast Region Convention I just returned from the 2024 Pacific Coast Region/NMRA Convention in Milpitas, CA. It was one of the better regional conventions with good clinics and presentations, many layouts, operating sessions, prototype tours and a very worthy banquet. The PCR announced that next year¡¯s convention will be March 27-30 in San Luis Obispo. San Luis Obispo is a great railroad town with a lot of thigs to see and do there and in the local area. Mark the dates on your calendar. More details will be coming soon. Bob Chaparro Moderator Model Railroads of Southern California |

Gary Butts¡¯ Railroad Featured In The November NMRA Magazine An illustrated article about MMR Gary¡¯s HO scale Gary & Sandy Railroad appears on Pages 28-35. Gary is a master craftsman and this is apparent in the photos. This railroad is housed in a 15¡¯ x 35¡¯ room in Gary¡¯s Huntington Beach home. The era is 1890-1920 with a focus on logging and mining. Model: Devore Depot
Model: Devore Depot This is an N scale model built by Otto Kroutil of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, for his First District/Los Angeles Division railroad. This 27' x 21' railroad is based on a two-level layout plan published in the 1999 issue of Model Railroad Planning. It is a very large N scale representation of the west side of Cajon Pass from San Bernardino to Summit, circa 1950. Many of the actual sites in the pass, as well as the massive San Bernardino station, are modeled on this layout. Otto models the sites using photographs to assure a high level of realism. This railroad was featured on two Model Railroads of Southern California¡¯s tours: Tour No. 9 and the tour arranged for the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society national convention in 2008.
