Introduction From New Zealand

Hi All

At this time of covid-19 lock-down in New Zealand, and being restricted to our homes, I have taken the opportunity to revisit some of my old contacts hence appearing here as a follow on from the previous Caddy forum.

Like others I have a mother who was born Caddy descending from the Dorset Caddys. With the help in the past of Jeremy Wilkes I was able to extend my roots into the Dorset Caddys centred around Piddlehinton. This was through my 2x Great Grandfather Albert Caddy, parents Joseph & Harriet Caddy, who served in the British Army in New Zealand, married had two children only to loose his wife and daughter in 1861 leaving only his son Charles Edward Caddy. When his regiment left New Zealand he left behind Charles in the hands of his brother-in-law and as far as we can ascertain never saw him again. Albert eventually left the army and settled in County Cork, Ireland.?I have tentatively taken my line back to John Caddy from?Abbotsbury, Dorset, England in the elate 1500's.?

My ancestry tree contains my tree, tree name brucecq

Keep safe

Bruce Quedley?
