Subject carefully chosen so I'm within the groups area!

I have 4 Gecko 201 drives in a controller Im building. Does anyone know if I
can connect all the Disable inputs together and switch them to ground using
one set of contacts or must I switch the Disable line from each drive to
ground using a separate set of contacts.

I'm a little concerned in case the drives interact with each other if I just
join all the Disable lines together and let them float during normal
operation.

Hi Alan,

This question has come up before. I previously suggested using four
separate switches, and I'm still of that opinion (I use four switches).
Why not just use a little 4PST switch (also previously suggested)?

I normally run with 'A' switched off, and the other's enabled.

The late model Gecko's can have the're err lines connected together.
So if one faults it will pull/fault the others. I had to build
Mariss's Fault Manager to do this because my drives were older style.
The older drives couldn't pull the others low. In the Gecko manual
there is a wiring diagram on how to incorperate a single switch to
E-stop and reset all the drives at one time.It only shows one drive
but just wire all the err pins together. It is page 4 for the G320's.
but works the same for all models. Term 5 can also be tied directly
to the printer port,it is TLL, to let your control software a fault or
reset has happened.
