***SPAM*** Rasberry Pi2 CNC?

There have been a few attempts at LinuxCNC on the original Pi, and with the extra power of the Pi2 there should be even better latency. There are some nice breakout boards to ues witn the Pi

Sent from my android device so quoting is crap ... need to kill these painful email clients!

Subject: ***SPAM*** [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Rasberry Pi2 CNC?

?My son asked for a rasberry pi2 credit card size PC for his birthday. While looking on Amazon I see where the CPU is a quad core 900 mHz and there is 1Gb of ram.?

Has any one looked at using one of these in a CNC application for mach3 ? I see that win10 is coming out with and OS for it.

This is great news as I have two of these R.P. 2 units.? I heard also that M.S. will Pre-release an M.S. 10 release for people to tryout for free.? But nobody has confirmed
this is actually happening.? Beta??
Anyway, I am keeping an eye on this talk with Rasberry Pi2.

Machinekit is a fork of LinuxCNC and runs great on the BeagleBone.? The BeagleBone has two additional CPUs specifically designed for real time speedup, and step generators have been implemented in them.? I sell a "cape" for the BeagleBone called the CRAMPS, that can mount up to 6 Pololu-style stepper driver modules plus other functions mostly aimed at 3D printers.? it makes a VERY small CNC control platform.

I'll have one at the CNC Workshop in Detroit next week (although that won't do you much good in the UK).

The Raspberry_Pi_4-Ham_RADIO group has a currently active thread about some
form of Windows 10 beta being available for the RPi.

I wonder what Windows 10 and Mach4 would do on the Pi2?

Probably nothing ...

At the moment I'm not thinking that it's even worth all the agro to try
out Win10 on the board. The linux distributions already configured for
Pi2 just work without needing to jump through any hoops.

loks like
a more practical starting point, and I'm sure Pi2 is already on
someone's bench.

Windows 10 for the Pi is a DOS interface only with no windows available.
