DRO Boards

I am considering discontinuing the Mauch/Kulaga DRO printed circuit
board for two reasons. Sales have been slow. Only 35 in 1 year and it
was made for a rapidly disappearing ISA slot.
I have one good board and 3 defective boards left. After the good board
is sold I doubt that I will reorder them unless there is more interest
in them.

I am interested in the Mauch/Kulaga DRO printed circuit board 3/4
axis kit if you have one available. If not, I am still interested
in getting the plans, if you still sell those instead?

Thank you in advance,
Mac

Hi Dan
A friend asked me recently whether he can cnc his Collet mill that is
already fitted with a dro system and drive motors. I don't know much about
DRO's so excuse me for asking stupid questions.

Currently you can move the axis' on the mill with a switch forward and back
and read the position from the DRO. Would it be possible to hook this DRO up
to a computer somehow that runs something like Turbocnc? If possible, what
are the steps needed? Is that perhaps what your DRO boards do?

Thanks
Coert

The DRO boards are all sold and like I said there wasn't enough sales to
justify and outlay of $500 for more boards so the point is moot.
But with deskncrt it was possible to shut off the power to the stepper
motors and read the encoder positions like a dro. As I recall EMC will
also do this.
If you are running a stepper system using turbocnc and your system is

Dan,

Would you be willing to make the board files available on an "open sources"
basis? That way if someone wants one they can either have a board made as a
prototype or use one of the programs like DeskPCB to make the G-code to
route one out.

If you are willing I would be happy to add it to the Kulaga DRO site I host.

sources" basis? That way if someone wants one they can either have a
board made as a prototype or use one of the programs like DeskPCB to
make the G-code to route one out.

If you are willing I would be happy to add it to the Kulaga DRO site I
host.

The DRO boards are all sold and like I said there wasn't enough sales
to justify and outlay of $500 for more boards so the point is moot.
But with deskncrt it was possible to shut off the power to the stepper
motors and read the encoder positions like a dro. As I recall EMC will
also do this. If you are running a stepper system using turbocnc and
your system is running correctly then you don't need a dro.
