The camtroinc controllers run just fine without a motor connected. No damage will occcurr with the drivers if a motor is left off. Never disconnect or connect a stepper motor while the power is on.

rtr@... That's a control transformer, It takes line voltage and reduces it to control voltage. Depending on the year, the secondary winding on the transformer is typically 110, 12, 24, or 48
