Re: CNC Question
You will get 40 to 50 ipm max? And nema 23 is smaller one if possible upgrade to nema42 and mach3 will work on win98 On Sat, 11 Jul, 2020, 8:05 PM , <richardayisi44@...> wrote: Hi guys, |

CNC Question
Hi guys,
I have definitely been bitten by the CNC bug and have spent many hours researching machine designs, motion control, etc. About ten months ago I embarked on my own first design for a CNC router that I could use in my woodworking business. I bought an inexpensive 3 axis system from Stepperworld, not so much for production work but mainly as a learning tool. My design worked but wasn't practical because of weight, poor design and inadequate power from the steppers. So I have now started to design a better router system using many of the ideas I have found on the net. I do have a couple of questions though - maybe someone out there can help. I purchased the Xylotex 3-axis system with the 497 oz. in. NEMA 23 steppers and plan on running DeskCNC as the control software (mainly because my PC is using Windows 98 OS). I was led to believe that Mach 3 can't run on that OS - is that correct? Does anyone have experience with this control/software combonation and if so, how well has it performed for you? I will be using 5/8" - 8 acme lead screws (until I can afford ball screws!) with Delrin-type lead nuts. Can anyone tell me with this configuration what speeds (ipm) can I expect during cutting and rapid? Rich |

Cutting Tool Applications, Grooving And Threading
Queen Nanu
Grooving and threading are both single-point machining operations performed on lathes, automatic lathes, or machining centers.
This post explains in details Grooving or recessing operations, face grooving, internal grooving, parting or cut off operations, insert geometry, chip control, tool positioning, operational stability, screw and threads, and many more.

Things Beginning CNC Milling Machine Users Need To Succeed

Let’s assume you have a working CNC machine that you’ve just acquired, but that you know very little about CNC.? Let’s further assume it is a mill and that you will be focused on cutting metal.? You’re ready to start milling custom chopper parts, build a tool changer, or scratch build a Colt 1911 handgun.? With CNC, you can build almost anything and you’re chomping at the bit to get started on your pet projects.
?
Not so fast!? Remember, you just got the machine and you’re a beginner.? You’re not ready for those projects yet.If you have some idea how to make your first CNC parts, charge ahead with these 10 suggestions.

Here are 10 things you should focus on to maximize your chances of becoming quickly successful:

Re: Kellyware
Hi Jon, I bought a copy of AutoCad Mechanical in 2000 and have used it for the last 20 years so I don't see any advantage to switching to Fusion 360.? Kellyware provided a CNC interface that provided the signal to the stepper drives through a USB connector.? It was (is) a pretty good piece of software so I am sorry to see it bite the dust. Fred??

开云体育FredI assumed and you know how that goes... :-)???? I thought KCam was Cam software but I see it is the Controller Software.?? I guess you can run it until it breaks.?? Today for Hobbiests you have? Mach3or 4? for Windows Users? and not free, well they have a free test version of which last I looked would run 150 lines of code.???? Mach3? full version can be had at around $ 200.00.????? Mach3 has a huge following easy to get help if you need it. ? ? Next on? the Free side is Linuxcnc for Linux users, this is what I use.??? Fantastic piece of software, but it was rather difficult to get setup if you don't? know Linux of which? I didn't.???? Good news is, once you get it setup and running it just works and works very well.???? I don't know about your controller board,? LinuxCNC? knows many controllers and can be taught if yours is not listed.??? I see someone else posted you might be able to use an Arduino? board.? Another learning curve but there's lots of help out there. Dan On 4/20/2020 12:36 PM, Dan Field wrote:

Re: Kellyware
Hi Dan, Thanks for the quick response.? I liked KCam because I could import dxf files from AutoCad and it would generate and run the g-code to my CNC.? I guess I don't have to panic quite yet--just when I run into a problem with KCam.? In the mean time I will be looking into what else is available.? I had not run across Fusion 360 but will certainly check it out. Thanks again for the response! Fred
