Sargon DRO Serial Output / CNC
A CNC newbie question: Why can't the serial output from a Sargon
or
similar DRO be fed to a computer then used to control a servo motor
on a vertical mill?

Re: Virus
Yep - I've received stuff that contained references to Alan Trest
and afogassa. I don't know if this means the virus emails
originated from them directly, or from a computer that has their

Virus
Someone on this list has the latest virus.
The "g-code test" and various members names keep arriving here.

Re: DRO encoders- Rotary or Linear?
This may be a stupid question, but why not to use a normal bicycle
chain\sprocket combination for driving an encoder?
Is it a backlash issue?

Re: CNC controller backlash question
Backlash shouldn't vary by direction. It can vary at different points
on the machine depending on wear.

Re: Ball/acme screw question
Not at all. Think about it. Hint: consider the same length nut in each case.

Re: Ball/acme screw question
Brian,
Actually, I'm somewhat of an expert, and the reason for a multi-lead
screw is this. You want a nut that will advance 1" in 4 revolutions, but if
the shaft is fairly small in diameter,

Re: IBM Notebooks & Geckos
I do not have IBM, but if you go into the BIO's of the laptop you need to see what mode the port is configured for.
Take a look at the one that works vs the ones that do not work.
