Businesses moving to more remote work
Who didnt see this coming? Its now a trend and one we will all be dealing with for the foreseeable future I am sure. My thing is that I am not opposed to it but would miss the office interaction at least a little here and there and i am sure some of you feel this way. Resume mistakes and how to fix them
Good article on some mistakes we make in resumes but how to fix them. Personally, I do use PDF for my resume when I apply. I hear it when they say the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) might spit me out, but recently I have not been and #2 the ATS is only way one to apply as we all know we need to network in to get seen and possibly land! https://alvcoaching.com/blog/5-resume-mistakes/ D. What to do when you get the dreaded "passing on you" email
Thanks to all who offered help last week for my presentation interview. I NAILED the presentation but apparently didnt WOW them enough to get hired. I got the following response: I hope this email find you well. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us and showcasing your events expertise. While the committee appreciated getting to learn more about you, your passion, skills, and experience, unfortunately you were not selected as the final candidate for this role. The Chamber will hold on to your information in the event there are future positions that align with your skills and experience. Thank you again for taking the time to interview with the hiring committee. We wish you all the best. Please let me know if you have any further questions. So, what I wanted to ask is what I can ask her and maybe the CEO? I have heard you can ask and sometimes they do respond and tell you. My thinking was something to the effect of.......While I am disappointed I was not picked to be your next Event Manager, what could have done better to show you that I was that hire (not sure exactly how to word it but you get the idea)? Also since I gave a presentation, I wanted to ask this......What could I have done better, if any, in my presentation, and was there anything that was lacking that i might improve on for next time (something again to this effect) Let me know your thoughts as I want to send her an email in the next day or so along with one to the CEO. The entire panel each got a personalized thank you note but because it was late in the day and I had to write 5, the door was locked; so I went to the nearest post office, stamped it and mailed it and they should have gotten it today in the mail since it was Friday before it went out. BTW, I am still going to ask each and every one of them to connect on Linkedin and see if they will because it never hurts, right? D. Louis Gruver, Jr.

Remote/Virtual Interviews
We are ALL subject to this even with companies entering into more in-person. So, with that, thought this was relevant because I had both virtual that moved to in-person for 2nd round and though I did well, this would have been handy for me: https://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/news/2021/04/26/recruiters-best-tips-for-remote-interviews.html?b=1619464966%5E21890894&utm_source=st&utm_medium=en&utm_campaign=tko&ana=e_tno D. Dreaded salary question.....need assistance
Folks....y'all are awesome in helping me on my previous ask but I have another. I applied for another position and of course did a required online application. There were some questions and one was the dreaded salary question. It wouldnt let me put in a range nor type in words or anything else. So, I did the research like I had anyway and came up with an amount based on the average here in Atlanta. Position: Meeting Planner, Senior Coordinator Salary: $65,000 This morning I got this message: Thank you for applying. Unfortunately, your salary requirements are not within the range of this position. We will keep your resume on file should another position open up that meets your skill set and salary requirements Now, I did my due diligence and yet it was apparently too high. It said Senior Coordinator, which I thought was NOT entry level. Any suggestions on how to respond as this was a good position for me and I think a good fit and I would love to be considered for it. Thanks in advance for your assistance D. Louis Gruver, Jr.

Need help in prepping for an interview presentation
Folks......God is good and I have moved on to the 2nd round of interviews for a job in the industry I so want to be in and have a passion for......EVENTS. With that, I am nervous because I was asked to put together a 10-15 presentation to submit to the interview committee panel by next Wednesday with Interview on thursday. While I dont know how many of you seeing this have experience in working in the events arena, I would like to see if anyone might be able to help me in any way they can. Help me come up with ideas, writing, etc before having to submit. Its been a long time since I have had to do something like this and so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. You can respond to this or send me a direct email to d.louisgruverjr@... and in the subject line just say Event presentation help or reference this and I will gladly take any help given. Prayers helped, but now time to work towards WOW'ng as Jay would say and landing. D. Louis Gruver, Jr.
