Old USA Classic Celestron C14

Okay I have bought a LF Coma Corrector Focal Reducer from Starizona making

the scope F7.2 at 2650mm now and have it attached to a Paramount ME Mount with a

QSI 683 WSG-8. I was able to achieve focus on the system with perfect round stars;

although I now have the task of running an extensive? T-Point model with the scope

and manually picking 6 stars on the same meridian side to begin with.

? My question for everyone is there anyway to lock the mirror with the supplied shipping screws

you use when transporting the OTA around or do I just let it run a 300 point model and

just see what the results will be in SKY X.?

Get Ironwood Flop Stoppers. Look up on the web.

"anyway to lock the mirror with the supplied shipping screws?you use when transporting the OTA"

No. Don't even try.

Flopstoppers help but they are not a total solution.

I think you have it right:
1) stay on one side of meridian
2) build a TPoint model around the area of imaging
3) use OAG guider.??

OAG guider is much more important and useful than TPoint.? I would not go overboard with TPoint unless you can't find the target without it.? You will probably never be able to take an unguided long exp with or without Tpoint and you can waste a lot of time trying.

(Or you can do high speed DS imaging with EMCCD but that's another story.)

I have a reliable source and basically he stated to me sell the C14 as fast as possible if your imaging
and get a Takahashi 106 ED instead. The more deeper I'm going down this rabbit hole it really makes sense.
My only other alternative would be to go the way of Hyperstar which is what I did in the past with a standard
Celestron C11 and had much fun with that setup.

"?sell the C14 as fast as possible if your imaging?and get a Takahashi 106?"

That advice is analogous to selling your Ferrari to get a Camry because it is too difficult to drive a high performance car and who need to go that fast anyway! <g>

Or why not get a DSLR with 18mm camera lens and fixed tripod.? Then you'll have it made in the shade.

C14 is not for lazy sissies!? If you don't care about things like "real" resolution and want to make a bunch of "me too" wide field images then get rid of the C14 ASAP! <g>
