Mars - 12-09-22

This first image was taken with the monochrome Saturn-M camera, the second with the color Uranus-C. Conditions were mostly poor but I managed to eke out quite a bit of detail anyway:

I had average to good seeing last night when this image was taken:

Mars - 11-29-22

Had a brief respite from the jet stream and I was able to capture some decent data for a change:

Re: Mars - 11-26-22

I believe it is a function of your aperture. Not much you can do about it. Short of slightly shifting the collimation of your scope. Bit of reading here:

Re: Mars - 11-26-22

Well done, Brian! I use my C14 at f5 for imaging so it's great to see planetary images from a C14...

I rarely have that effect around my images. If I do, I blur the edges.

How do you get rid of the 'ring effect' around the edge of Mars?

(caused, I believe, my diffraction!)

Hi Ray,

I don¡¯t think it will work, as anything that plugs into the Mount is going to have to be turn of the century tech. With the DIY option, I¡¯m thinking some sort of Wi-Fi adapter or serial to usb adapter connected to a PC. The camera would also be connected to the PC. No need for Mount to be compatible with a specific system such as Starsense as long as an ASCOM or Alpaca driver can communicate with the Mount ( the Original fork Mount in my case). I¡¯m thinking NINA, SGP, ASTAP, etc. could platesolve the data from the camera and tell the scope via the driver where it is in the sky. My 2 cents¡but anybody¡¯s input or advice is welcome!

Paul

Paul, I'm not sure.? When the Starsense first came out, an engineer at Celestron said the NS11GPS was too old and it "probably wouldn't work", so I never tried?it and have since sold that scope.
?
If the engineer was correct, then piggy backing another scope would not work either because the Starsense device, as I recall,?plugs into the mount, not the scope.

Subject: [C14EdgeHD] Nexstar GPS and Starsense

Hi all,

I am a new member of the group and I know this question has been asked before.

I have a Nexstar GPS 11¡± with a newer hand controller and the latest firmware.?

Is this scope capable of being adapted for the Starsense plate solve system?

If not, can a piggybacked refractor and guide camera work? If so, what hardware/software coming would work?

Clear Skies,

Paul

I took two images of Mars last night under mostly poor seeing. The first was taken with the Uranus-C color camera:

This second image was taken with my Saturn-M monochrome camera:

Did you use an?Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector with the photo??

Kind regards and clear skies.

Thanks Bob. I used the ZWO ASI462 MC. I just received the Uranus -C color camera from Player One that just got a big thumbs up from Damian Peach. I am anxious to give it a try. I also just received a Planewave CDK 14 so I am also anxious to see if it can compete with my classic C14. We will see!
