Saw a westbound stopping at Aldershot yard (Mlge 34.60 Oakville Sub.) to set of 2 units today.
Lead units were SD70M-2 8931 and SD75I 5638.
The set offs were 4959 ex BNSF and CN GP38-2(W) 4791.
BNSF rosters that I have looked at show 4959 as a Dash 9-44CW. It's not.
I'm guessing it's a GP38.
If anyone can offer any clarity I would much appreciate it.

Our next meeting will be both an in-person meeting and a Zoom meeting. If enough people from outside the Chicago area attending Zoom meetings become Club members, this will encourage the Club to make hybrid meetings a permanent feature. Dues are $20 which includes four glossy newsletters sent by mail. The dues renewal is sent with the fourth newsletter. We still have slide shows which will not be presented via Zoom.

When most people hear the words "cable car" they think of San Francisco. Yet for one-quarter of a century Chicago boasted the largest cable car system the world has ever seen that transported more than one billion riders.
This monumental system filled residents with pride--and filled robber barons' pockets with money. It also sparked a cable-car building-boom that spread to 26 other U.S. cities.
Railroad & Shortlines Club of Chicago meets at 7:30 pm Central Time on the third Friday of the month except in July and August. The in-person meeting location is Chicago Union Station Room 107A. Enter at 500 W Jackson Blvd, which is between Clinton and Canal.

January 13, 2021 Grand Trunk Western 4-6-2 5030 is sold to the Colebrookdale Preservation Trust in Pennsylvania. The locomotive had been on display in a park in Jackson MI since the late 1950’s. The Trust plans to restore the locomotive to operating condition.

CN has had 50 on order from Progress Rail, AC rebuilds of SD75i, for some time, until recently progress has been slow. Perhaps production problems in the conversions, or whatever caused the slow delivery has been solved and the balance are starting to appear
rapidly.? Nine units heading west at Elkhart Indianna are in yesterday's Virtual Railfan Grab Bag video and are certainly of this series, with possibly different numbers to those that I quoted.? (The numbers are not clear unfortunately)

January 12, 1945 Bituminous Coal Research Incorporated's Locomotive Study Group, made up of representatives from eastern railroads and locomotive manufacturers, meets to find ways to combat the rise of the diesel locomotive. They decide reciprocating steam is dead, and to explore coal-fired turbines.
