Eastern Fallen Flags at Railroad & Shortlines Club of Chicago
Railroad & Shortlines Club of Chicago
7:30 pm Central Daylight Time Friday, April 18, 2025 Please do not arrive before 7:15 pm. Also, if you are participating on Zoom, please do not join before 7:15 pm on the day of the meeting. We haven't used Zoom since the disastrous meeting in January. The March meeting wasn't on Zoom as it was a slide presentation. We are trying again to get hybrid Zoom meetings right. Zoom meeting codes are at the end of this message. Our next meeting will be both an in-person meeting and a Zoom meeting. If enough people from outside the Chicago area attending Zoom meetings become Club members, this will encourage the Club to make hybrid meetings a permanent feature. Dues are $20 which include four glossy newsletters sent by mail. The dues renewal is sent with the fourth newsletter. We still have slide shows which will not be presented via Zoom. Here are details about joining Railroad & Shortlines Club of Chicago: In-person meeting location Chicago Union Station Room 107A 500 W Jackson Blvd (enter between Clinton and Canal) Chicago, Illinois Eastern Fallen Flags by Russell Sharp Russell Sharp will present photos taken on the Baltimore and Ohio, Chesapeake and Ohio, Central Railroad of New Jersey (Jersey Central), Delaware and Hudson, Erie-Lackawanna, New York Central and New York, New Haven and Hartford, Reading Lines, and various short lines such as the Kelley's Creek and Northwestern Railroad in West Virginia. Re: National Steel Car and 8300's
开云体育Hi Doug,
NSC Centrecabs are still on the property. #11 is operational and is still outside and is used.
#10 (parts source since 2011-12 or so) and #12 (active until 2023/2024) are still on the property.
The facility is served by CNR multiple times a week.

National Steel Car and 8300's

Couple of questions.
First question not related to CN but not sure were to ask.
NSC had 3 GE 50T's (10,11 &12) that were replaced in October, 2022
with SW1001's 5306, 8504 and 8704.
Were the 50T's scrapped?
Interesting that NSC is manufacturing Auto racks.
Must have been 20 on site when I drove by plant yesterday.
Jan/Feb. 2025 Branchline listed SD75IACC' s up to 8314.
Nothing listed in the March/April 2025 Branchline.
Are there more on the roster or coming?
Thanks

Scanner Frequencies

In reply to Malcolm:
Thanks for your reply.
At Burlington, train standby channel is 161.415 which seems to
cover a lot of territory.
160.365 is car control for Aldershot and Oakville which can be
used for work in Aldershot yard. This is Channel 5.
If a train is going to be working in the yard for an period of
time they go to Channel 7, 159.810.
If there is multiple activity in the yard, then someone will go
to channel 17, 160.695.
Trackside Guide Section 12 lists frequencies but it is difficult to
?figure out the areas some are used in.
Hamilton Yard has their own frequency?161.385, channel 40.
Then there are the M of W channels and Engineering channels.
Guess I'm just going to have to enter more frequencies and
see if some give me the chatter I want.

Trackside Guide Page 12-2 has the general CN frequencies which they sometimes use, I hear RTC asking people to use channel 5 etc quite frequently particularly if they are going to be tying a channel up for some time.
